Kindergarten Sets the Foundation
Funded Sep 20, 2023I can't thank you enough for the impact that you've had on our classroom. Our students were excited to see new books and math materials in the classroom.
The math materials that you helped purchase helped us organize materials so that each child has enough to complete tasks. They were also excited to explore with new geoblocks. Using the BOBs books to help my students learn how to read has been magical. They were excited to use these books and felt empowered with decoding these books. My co-teacher and I are really excited to continue the school year using these materials.”

With these new hands on materials I have noticed an huge improvement in their literacy skills. I will continue my work in the classroom using these materials and building on their knowledge. The skills that they are learning with these materials will follow them as they help set a strong literacy foundation.”

Mindfulness In The Classroom
Funded Nov 15, 2021We will forever be thankful with your very generous donations! Mindfulness in that classroom means more than ever in my classroom! Every student is now able to have a yoga mat to practice yoga and meditation everyday in the classroom. The yoga mats motivate my students to participate during yoga. The yoga mats bring them comfort and cleanliness.
We practice yoga everyday before lunch. Students have realized that practicing yoga helps calm their minds and body. We also have these yoga mats accessible in the cozy corner so that they can take a yoga break whenever their mind or body needs one.
Thank you again for helping me help my students learn a healthy way to create mindfulness in the classroom !”

Funded Aug 15, 2020Thank you so much for making a difference in my students lives! You helped me design my classroom in a way where social-distancing doesn't look so bad! I was able to design my classroom where my students are able to stay safe during this hectic time. This helps promote independence and consistency in routines. As we all know, an organized well managed classroom helps children learn. Being that I have students with special need this is CRUCIAL! The tape was able to help me divide seating spots and make spots on the floor for socially distance movement breaks.

Funded Aug 11, 2020Thank you so much for your donations! Together you all for making a difference in my students lives. During this very uncertain time you helped bring consistency in my students learning every day. Thanks to you all my students were able to have a set of in classroom learning tools and one to keep at home. This has helped my students have hands on learning materials to help them learn no matter what is happening at the moment.
Being able to teach remotely and in person can be challenging, but making sure that my students had the materials to learn wherever they are was my priority and you helped make that happen!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!”

Rewards For Distance Learning
Funded Jun 5, 2020You helped us achieve our end of the year learning goals! With the learning kits that my students were able to take home because of you we were able to use teach them lessons through Zoom. They were able to use their hands on materials to participate in these lessons. As you all know, hands on learning is extremely important in Pre-K, they learn though doing.
Not only were the children excited to receive their learning kits, parents were also extremely grateful that their children were able to use these learning kits. These learning kits also helped learning throughout the summer. Children still have their learning kits and are using them to help get them ready for kindergarten as we gave them a suggestive learning activity list.
Thank you all so much for being so generous and helping the future keep learning through a pandemic :)”

Funded Dec 4, 2019We are overwhelmed with joy ever since my class received new kitchen furniture all thanks to all of the donors on DonorsChoose.org. Right before the holiday break we received four huge boxes at our classroom door. In the boxes were a refrigerator, sink, oven and a closet for our dress up clothes. As we opened them one by one the children were extremely excited to jump into the dramatic play area and play with their new furniture.
So much magic happens in dramatic play! The students get a chance to channel their imagination through dressing up in whatever their choose to be and turning the kitchen into multiple places such as their home kitchen, a pizzeria or a restaurant. We recently turned the dramatic play into a food truck and "installed" the oven, sink, and refrigerator into the food truck. Of course this turned into a popular center and the children had so much fun that they then invited their parents in to see their food truck.
My students and I will forever be grateful for the memories that are to be made with the dramatic play furniture you donated!!! I can not wait to see what other creative ways my students choose to use this furniture.”

Funded Oct 2, 2016We are so thankful for the Ipads in our classroom! This allows me to integrate technology in my classroom. The children are learning so much with the interactive literacy and math games. It is now more available to them where as before we only had one Ipad to share with 15 students. We use a math curriculum called Building Blocks which has an online component where children can choose to play math games that correspond to the weeks lesson. Many of the children in this school are from households that can't afford technology so school is their own time to experience the adventures of where technology can take you.
The most exciting about the Ipads are that each kid can now have an opportunity to explore technology using the Ipads. I can honestly say that all of the children have warmed up to using the Ipads. They get a lot of joy and learning out of them. It helps modernize learning! Schools 2 Schools is a very generous project and helps kids from all over NYC!”
