  • Learning with "Elmo"

    Funded May 20, 2016

The addition of the Elmo to our classroom has been immense. My students are very excited and we use it on a daily basis. The capabilities of this machine are endless. My students are now actively engaged in the learning process.

My visual learners benefit from the use the document camera by seeing small items, text, demonstrations in a much bigger way. Hands-on learners can also benefit from the use of a document camera by allowing them to be the ones placing objects or items under the document camera and explaining what they are showing. Another benefit of using the document camera is the decrease in copying expense. We are always looking for ways to decrease the amount of paper being used and this is the perfect tool.

Some ways in which we will be using the document camera in our classroom include displaying student work, model note taking skills by using an actual piece of notebook paper, worksheets or texts can be projected so that the students can see them on the board, complete graphic organizers as a whole class, zoom in on small items to see the details, projecting maps, pictures of historical places and events from a book or photo, save images for later use. A classroom document camera connected to a computer can also act as a scanner. I can place documents under the document camera and use them in class that day and "save" the image for future use.

Thank you so much for your contribution to our classroom! My students and I are very grateful. The technology in our glass is flourishing. I am certain that by the end of the year my students will become better learners all because you helped us!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. H.

  • Mental for Math

    Funded Oct 28, 2014

    Dear Donors,

Thank you for your contribution. You have helped the children significantly. The children love all the math games and are very excited to use them during center time. The use of these resources has made math come alive and they have been able to make real world connections as well. They look forward to using these resources on a daily basis. Math scores have improved and a love for Math has been fostered. Through your contribution we have managed to bring back the excitement that children should have for Mathematics.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. H.
