Can you see? I see! We all see!
Funded Sep 26, 2016Your donation has made a great impact in the delivery of my lessons and instruction. It has facilitated transition times from one subject to the other and it has also made the screen more visible for students all around the room. My students and I are forever grateful. They all wrote their thank you letters and have stated how grateful they are that their teacher will no longer worry about dropping her laptop (which almost happened twice). Students are excited to come up and share their math problem answers on the document reader. They no longer have the fear of dropping anything that's on the cart because everything is where it belongs. Currently students are doing research on a U.S. President. They will use all their research and create a PowerPoint presentation, which they get to project and present to the class. Your donation could not have come at a better time. In the past I've always had to assist through the entire presentation due to the fact that not all the electronics were set on the cart. I look forward to assisting students but giving them more practice with using the laptop and getting to know what key to press to move Through the presentation on their own. We are all so excited to have the cart and have been using it since it arrived!”

5th Grade Science Tubs
Funded Feb 11, 2015Words cannot express all the joy and gratitude my students feel. They are super excited to do science since they started using these science tubs. They are so eager to work in groups and get their hands on the experiments the tubs have to offer. They all asked how did we get these materials? Why did they pick us? I read every single comment posted by you, (our donors) and that gave my students a boost in confidence. Many times students don't see a connection between society and themselves. Definitely they felt connected to every single one of you. The impact you and your act of kindness made in my 5th graders will forever stay in their lives because they felt others besides their parents and teacher care about their education.
The way I have organized to teach the content from each tub is by grouping students in small groups. This week we are using the electricity tub which has 8 activities, so I divide 32 students into 8 groups. They where given the materials and instructions to work on the experiment together. They must use the Scientific Method to record their notes, thinking, and to present the activity to the rest of the class. These tubs have been a blessing in the sky to receive now that we are in full transition of Common Core State Standards.
These tubs have boosted my teaching because it has given my students and I the resources needed to fully implement the common core state standards required by our district. My student definitely seem to be more engage in the lessons now than they have ever been. The opportunity to be fully involved in a lesson was limited in the old school way of teaching and as we are changing our methodology of teaching practices it can be overwhelming to prepare elaborate lessons. These tubs have help me as an educator to feel prepared and energize to teach students how to be critical thinkers and to problem solve with their peers. As oppose to them waiting for me to give them the answers they are now testing their hypothesis and coming up with their own questions. This is very heart warming to see that these learning opportunities are happening thanks to a generous group like you. Thank you for helping my students and for encouraging me to continue looking for lessons that are fun, entertaining, and that teach our future leaders!”
