  • New Books, Please!

    Funded Oct 23, 2024

We are unbelievably excited to see that our project has been fulfilled- by YOU! We are thrilled to have the books in our room and ready for perusal by the students. Next week, we will do our 'book preview and pass' activity, where students pass baskets around of the new books, use the previewing strategies we practice, and chat about their interest in each book. It is a really fun way to build community around reading, informally practice our speaking and listening skills, and especially- create interest and excitement about our NEW books!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Consiglio

  • Literacy as a Tool to Create Compassion!

    Funded Oct 4, 2024

Thank you so much for your kind and generous donations towards this project! It is so warming to see that many others also value growing compassion in our young people, and want to support a cause intended to do that!

The project materials are in! We know have enticing notebooks, fun stickers, and tape designed to create engaging spaces to reflect and grow in this capacity through prompts designed to create reflection.

The books included in this project also present stories and scenarios that allow students to reflect on acts of compassion!”

  • New Books, Please!

    Funded Jan 15, 2025

Thank you ever so much for your donation to this project. It is always such an exciting day when I know new materials are on their way to my classroom. My students will be thrilled to receive these new books, and I look forward to hearing their review and thoughts on them!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Consiglio

  • Classroom Supplies

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

Thank you so much for your support of this project. While these items may not seem exciting, they have impacted our classroom in a big way! The students LOVE the table lamps and remark often how much they appreciate having a break from the overhead florescent lights. Many other educators have now gotten these after remarking on the "coziness" of our classroom. Access to fresh Sharpies brings energy to student projects, and send the message that students are worthy of new materials. The ability to organize writing reference sheets and station work with folders, paper clips, and notes sheets help students (and me!) stay organized.

    Thank you!”

  • In Support of a Well-Read and Creative Brain!

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

Wow! Thank you so much for finding this project worthy of your donations! In an ever-increasing climate of test prep, standardization of learning, and a focus on short text passages in lieu of books, having a classroom filled with books, puzzles, engaging materials, etc. builds a space where novel reading is cherished and students are given time to grow and think "outside the box".”

  • New Year Classroom Update!

    Funded Feb 9, 2024

Thank you SO much for supporting our learning environment with these materials. In an 80 minute block period, it is vital to have proper organization, engaging resources, and the ability for students to utilize different learning atmospheres. The intersection of these ideas supports students' engagement and connection to class.

From stickers to use as rewards, physical resources that enhance the classroom, to materials such a magnets to create re-arrangeable poems, your gift has improved our learning (and teaching) conditions.

    THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Consiglio

  • Classroom Refresh!

    Funded Dec 11, 2023

Thank you so much for supporting the organization and structure of our classroom. Teaching reading and language arts requires preparation for 5 areas of study: reading, writing, language, speaking, and listening.

Having organized and accessible materials for each of these realms is no easy task. Your support of this project ensures that I am fully ready to create strong and engaging lessons built around materials that remain easy to locate and use in a classroom with 2 drawers, no teacher desk with drawers, and lots of things :)

The students particularly love the rocking chairs for reading and are thrilled to have ultra-thin Sharpies for their project.

    THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Consiglio

  • New Books, Please!

    Funded Nov 27, 2023

It is so rewarding to know that you too deeply value literature in the hands of middle school students during a time when so many schools are facing conflicts in this arena. My students and I can't thank you enough for your support of this project. I am fiercely protective of ensuring that no matter how chaotic or busy my 8th graders' days, they will always have a respite in my classroom; a time when they can indulge in reading materials and books of their choosing, and escape for a short time.

    THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Consiglio

  • New Books, Please!

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

My students have the luxury of choosing a book that speaks to them and engages them during our daily independent reading time. Having access to high-quality, engaging materials gives students the opportunity to engage in a volume of reading that's critical to their growth as readers and thinkers.

Your gift of books for our room ensures that students are able to approach reading as i hope they will for the rest of their lives: choice of engaging text, the chance to talk with others about their reading, and having exposure to many different stories and authors.

    Thank you!”
