For The Love of Books: A Leveled Library
Funded Nov 28, 2023My students and I want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your generous donations towards our leveled middle school classroom library. Your contributions have truly made a significant impact on student learning and engagement. The enthusiasm and joy my students express when selecting books from the library is a testament to the positive influence your support has had on their educational journey.
Thanks to your generosity, our classroom library now offers a diverse selection of books. that cater to the varying interests and reading levels of my students. This not only fosters a love for reading but also encourages exploration and critical thinking among my young learners.
Thank you once again for your generosity and for making a difference in the lives of our students.”

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose Community and 12 other donors. To Literacy and Beyond!
Funded Nov 14, 2016On behalf of my classroom I would like to thank you for your donations. Your support helped my classroom immensely. My students love the engaging articles in Scholastic Scope and Scholastic Action.
When my students first received their magazines they were ecstatic. They enjoy reading the articles and using the online components. Scholastic offers an array of teaching materials, such as videos and visuals for each article, and it truly brings the reading to life. Using Scholastic Scope and Action, in the classroom allows me to differentiate my lessons. Scholastic levels the reading materials, so all readers can comprehend and enjoy the text.
Thank you once again for your generous donations. Your enthusiastic support has played a key role in the academic success of my students.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Rathe
A Brick and a Dream: Studying the History of NYC with Legos
Funded Nov 15, 2014My students were ecstatic when they received their Legos. They could not wait to start building and creating masterpieces. At one point during the lesson one of my students came up to me and said "Ms. McCormack, this is the best day ever! Thank you so much!" I reminded him that these Legos would not have been possible with out the generous donations from you.
I have been using the Legos to teach about different buildings and infrastructure around New York City. Currently, I teamed up with the Art teacher and we are teaching the students how to create a stop motion video with their Legos. The students are writing scripts and creating sets with their Legos.
This project has allowed my students to be more creative as well as develop team work skills. When presented with a new project my students approach it with enthusiasm and excitement. I am looking forward to continue using Legos in my curriculum. Thank you for your generous donation!”
