  • Movement and Fitness

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

    Last year, we received our Movement and Fitness package with a bunch of cool new "toys" for us to play with to help us get active! The kids were totally excited about the torpedo stampers and it has added numerous new games to our curriculum. The kids LOVE to stomp and them, which in turn makes them run for the ball.

    Along with the fun equipment, we also got some new medicine balls and a rack to help amp up our fitness room. We were in desperate need of the rack and has cleaned up our facilities and helps to organize the equipment so that the students can be more responsible.

    Without donors like you, we would have the opportunity to get new equipment and wouldn't be able to better our curriculum. We truly appreciate everything you do to help our students have the education that they deserve and need!”

  • Timing Our Way to the Mile Run Test

    Funded May 25, 2015

    Thank you so much for funding our stop watches! This was especially important to us because we are really working hard to improve our mile times. With many of our old stop watches going bad this was a great treat for the kids! To have them working in smaller groups helped tremendously! We appreciate your donation, thank you again very much! Our mile times got better each week and the kids were able to pace themselves or push themselves harder due to being able to see a time while running. We also use the timers to fitness test with the shuttle run.”

  • Upper Body Strength Training

    These Warrior Ropes are amazing! The kids love this new equipment. They are struggling, but they are seeing that they need to work on their upper body strength. The students are also seeing that one arm is stronger than the other arm. Because this is new, they are asking to pull out the Warrior Ropes more often, and are wanting to do muscular strength and endurance activities more often than before! Thank you so much for making this possible! Without your generous donations, we would never have been able to get these Warrior Ropes.”

  • Sport Stacking: Connecting our Hemispheres

    Funded Nov 13, 2014

    We have been adding to our sport stacking unit very slowly. We started off by going to conferences to get out free set. Then we wrote a grant and won a couple of more. Now the kids are getting better at the stacks and want to get timed the "professional" way! With these 10 sets of timers, we can have stations for timing as well as stations for team relays. We previously have not been able to do that!

    The kids love to compete against each other. It makes them work harder to get the patterns down. Working on patterns, it is using both sides of the brain, which in turn will get them to focus on their academic classes. We thank you for your generosity in helping to get these timing mats funded for us. Our budget is very small, and we mainly have to upkeep broken equipment with that money. We then cannot purchase new things for the students!”

  • Miles for Fitness, Moving to Save Our Lives!

    Funded Nov 21, 2014

    Having the pedometers, our students are more conscious about how much they are moving. Instead of standing around waiting in line for a station or activity, I see them jogging in place or walking around.

    The pedometers are adding activity to the students without them realizing it! That is wonderful! It is my main goal to get the kids moving more and it is working! I thank you, for your generosity, as I could not afford these with my current budget.

    With the winter months, we were able to use the pedometers for PACERS and fitness stations. As the weather gets warmer, we will be able to use them for our outside running and other fitness games. Now I can also assess the students on the amount of steps that they are taking!”

Having some technology for my students to monitor themselves would really help our program and the needs of my students! With obesity on the rise, especially in the low income and Hispanic population, my students are at risk! I am asking for your help... our youth are asking for your help... we all have to work together to fight childhood obesity and increase cardiovascular fitness!

About my class
