Headphones for Students!

Funded Sep 14, 2015

Hey everyone! I finally have some time to sit down and write you all to thank you for donating to my donors choose project. Every one of my thirty Mac desktops now have working headphones thanks to you. Students have been so much more quiet and even more focused when they come in the computer lab. In the lab, students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade use a program called ST Math. Check it out if you ever have time! Love the company and the product. Students learn a variety of math topics and now with their head phones I don't hear thirty random bells ringing throughout my day. Quite the life saver.

When the kids came in the computer lab that first day their faces were really something to see. They all flipped out and were giving high fives to each other, haha. All the students have been taking great care of them and kind of yell at each other when someone forgets to hang them back up on the computer screens or gets them tangled up. It is awesome to see them take ownership of something new. You can really tell they are grateful for the headphones.

Other than hearing hundreds of bells ring daily, I wanted the headphones for my students in the Life Skills Support and Multiple Disabilities classrooms. One of the girls who is pictured in the photos is the student who I wanted to spotlight. In the past, she has had a hard time staying seated and one of her individualized education goals is to keep eye contact for more than a minute. She has used to learned to stay in her seat for the full 45 minute class period and never wants to leave when the class is over. She keeps the headphones on for the entire period and even puts them on herself. It is AMAZING to hear her laugh and sing every week when she comes to visit my room. Without these headphones, none of this could be possible. I truly thank you for your kind donation. For those of you who requested student thank-you letters keep an eye out for them!”

With gratitude,

Mr. Asman
