Sittin' Pretty
Funded Oct 26, 2021We were able to acquire a dozen flexible sitting cushions. These cushions have provided excitement for students as they silent read either big books that align with our core, or books that have chosen from their book boxes. I have also used the cushions as incentives while reading or while sitting at their desks.
We were also able to get some seat sacks for the back of chairs. This has supported us in keeping our desk areas a bit more organized and transitions quicker as we keep non-paper tools in them such as our whiteboards, markers, and erasers.
Both of these resources have been very helpful for our classroom environment!”

Many Treasures for My Student Stars
Funded Sep 30, 2020I to purchased a Treasure Box that included prizes for my students. The students earn stars each day, and when they earn 8 they earn a sticker to put on their card, and when they have 5 stars, they are able to choose a prize out of the treasure box. This is highly motivating for students, and I am grateful for the opportunity to reward them for their hard work.
I also purchased many organizing tools including magnets, file organizer for work that is turned in, and magnetic window curtain rods that I use to organize my anchor charts. I love all of these tools as they helped me become more organized.
Finally, I purchased a set of headphones that are used as the old ones break or wear out. These headphones have a softer earpiece which I have found help the students not worry about the headphones.”

Funded Nov 7, 2019The items I have received have been very helpful in the classroom. The photos show a before and after picture of the books that are used for instruction. They were organized (at one time) by topic or month, but after time, they have gotten misplaced and I would find books for the fall in the fairy tale bin. The bins are now labeled and stackable thus freeing up space. This is the same as the paper organizer.
The base ten magnets are great for visualizing proof drawings. We have been working on double-digit subtraction and the magnets are large enough for the kids in the back of the class to see. The kids love these magnets and they love to move them around as they work out problems for the class or in small groups. They are great because the 10 sticks break down into ones and the kids NEED to see this so they understand subtraction with ungrouping. These have made the biggest difference for me as I teach ungrouping!
I also asked for some shape magnets that the kids can build with, which supports our geometry standards. Oh, they were so excited when I opened the box and brought them out for them to build with!”

A Phone for the Head or Good Old Headphones
Funded Feb 14, 2019Thank you so much for helping our students learn. The headphones we received are used daily as we use Lexia, Prodigy, and RAZ Kids programs on our computers. The headphones help us focus on our work rather than hearing all the other sounds from other computers. We have also used the magnetic coins and place value blocks to help us learn math concepts together as a class. We can see them from the back of the room and they are faster to manipulate instead of drawing them every time! Thank you so much for the headphones and math manipulatives!”
