  • Glowing Math Sprints

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

Thank you for your generous donations toward my project "Glowing Math Sprints"! The black lights displayed in the classroom allow math to be a bit brighter. My third grade students have been practicing their multiplication facts. When the students are doing their facts we turn the black lights on and use highlighters to make their answers glow in the dark.

Students are so excited when I announce it's time for "glowing math sprints." They grab a highlighter and get busy right away to see their answers glowing. Your donations have helped to make math more engaging and fun.”

  • Help Keep Us Cool!

    Funded Oct 21, 2021

Thank you for your generous donation. My students and I are overwhelmed and grateful that you donated a portable air conditioning unit for our classroom.

Our classroom doesn't have working air conditioner and our class was up to 88 during the months of August and September. As soon as spring comes the temperatures in class will rise again. We can't wait to use the unit this spring. My students this year and years to come will appreciate a cool classroom thanks to you!

My students helped me set up the unit and we are ready to stay cool! With covid regulations we have to wear masks while in school. This unit will help keep us cooler even while wearing a mask.”

  • The Gift of Time and Math

    Funded Nov 27, 2020

My students were so excited when I showed up at each of their homes with a bag full of math supplies. They all received several Expo markers, clocks, multiplication and division flash cards.

Every morning students take out their own clocks. I randomly give them a time and they show me that time on their clocks. Then they write the digital time using an Expo marker. We have started using them with elapsed time.

For math my class has been learning multiplication and division facts. We take 5-10 minutes a day practicing facts using the flashcards that you donated to my class. Students have memorized so many facts since they started practicing with the flash cards.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. A.

  • Scholastic News Magazine

    Funded Sep 30, 2020

Thank you for your donation and providing Scholastic News Magazines to my class. These magazines are teaching my students non-fiction and current events. I have been using the magazines every week during our social studies block.

Every week the students have a magazine in their hands and we read them together and have been having wonderful conversations together. The students love the photographs and illustrations in each magazine.

The first week we started using the magazine I had a student say "I feel like a grown up with a real magazine." All students look forward to reading these Scholastic News magazines.”

  • Remote Learning Headphones

    Funded Sep 21, 2020

Thank you for your donation and allowing me to provide headphones to all of my students. Students are learning remotely at home and I'm teaching live on zoom all day. These headphones are helping students stay focused on my lessons because the headphones block out other noise in their homes.

My students were so excited to receive these new headphones. They were so thrilled to know that others wanted to help with their remote learning. The headphones have definitely made remote teaching and learning better for everyone.

I let my students pick the color headphones, either blue or purple (those are our school colors). They loved seeing the other students who picked the same color as each other. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. A.

  • Mystery Book Club!

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

Your donation is making it possible for my class to participate in mystery book clubs together. My class in learning remotely so most of the reading they are doing in with online books. There's nothing like having a book in your hand to read.

My students will all receive a brand new book because of your generosity. We will be starting book clubs and each club has a different mystery book to read. I will be using break out rooms on zoom for each group. I'm so excited to start these groups.

I will be delivering all of the books to students since we are not together in a classroom. Thank you again for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. A.

  • Flexible Seating

    Funded May 11, 2018

My third grade students were so excited to receive the flexible chairs for the classroom. The two boxes were delivered to the classroom and my students couldn't wait to open them. Before opening the boxes I explained how donors donated resources to our class to help make our class even better. They couldn't believe it. We opened the boxes and my whole class started cheering.

We had a class discussion about how we could use the chairs. Students came up with ideas and times during the day to use the chairs. They especially loved their own idea to have a "reader of the day" and when it's your day, you can read your book in the chair.

Students use both chairs everyday. We all truly appreciate your generosity. You are making a difference for so many students.”

  • Book Worms

    Funded Mar 27, 2017

My third graders were thrilled to receive books and book bins for our classroom. They quickly helped me unpack and label all the books and the bins. I displayed all of the books and showed the students the non-fiction and fiction books.

We were working on non-fiction during reading so students quickly gravitated to the nonfiction books. Students took the books to their seat and read them during independent reading. During the reading lesson students had to share a book that they believed the author used excellent text features. Students used the books you donated to our class to complete this assignment.

Having new books is one way that students get excited about reading. My class were all excited to read the new books you donated. Students will enjoy these books for many years. Thank you helping to make my job as a reading teacher easier.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. A.

The use of IPADS has become a high interest learning tool in my classroom. I have 24 students and one IPAD for the students to share throughout the day. My students will be able to use educational apps more often throughout the day using this IPAD. Having an IPAD with headphones will provide every student the opportunity to use an IPAD for learning several times a week. My students are motivated and eager to use the educational apps that my district has purchased for the classroom. If we had another IPAD would increase the use of technology in my classroom.
