My school is an urban magnet school using the International Baccalaureate model. We are public school, with students from throughout the city. The students are eager readers, and they want to engage with reading and new titles. The current Media Center collection is growing, and I am focused on creating a space where diversity is honored and celebrated through literature. Each year I see my students becoming more and more active in their reading lives, and I want to continue to nurture this growth and build on their growing engagement with the world around them. For many of my students the school library is their primary source of reading material, and as such I want it to be a rich environment full of stories that reflect and expand on their community and school relationships.
