  • Calming Area

    Funded Apr 2, 2024

I am grateful for your support and greatly appreciate your kindness now and always. Thank you for helping me accomplish my goals of creating calming area for my students that help them focus, play and learn. The materials help my students also in different academic areas. The letters are additional support in helping them learn to sequence and recognize the alphabet. The students had fun manipulating play dough and helped calm themselves by rolling, pressing and shaping them into whatever figures they can think of. The colorful bears helped students calm down and improve their focus by playing with it, matching and sorting them. I believe that through the materials received, we will be successful in helping students achieve their goals both academically and emotionally.

Again from the bottom of our hearts, we want to express our sincerest gratitude for your unselfish contribution.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Verceles

  • An Apple A Day Makes Students Have FUN Activities Everyday!

    Funded Mar 4, 2022

I would like to thank you again for giving me trusting me with this project. Technology has been an integral part of schools in developing 21st century skills in terms of information and technology. Having an online curriculum helps my students access the necessary lessons for the day. It has helped my students learn to type their names, high frequency words and use it to play online games for related to their curriculum.

I have enhanced my teaching by fun and interactive slides for ELA and Math. I have used this technology to access their Individualized educational Programs and take data on the students progress.

Having this tool has helped my students learn to navigate online. This technology has helped harness students attention and excitement in the classroom as well as revitalize the traditional learning experiences in their everyday life.

Once again from the bottom of our hearts THANK YOU!!! You are our hero!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Verceles

  • Feel, Play, Fun and Focus!

    Funded Nov 10, 2021

Thank you so much for all the materials. It has been a great joy seeing how the students react when we use the sensory toys and the manipulatives that we received. They are always happy and excited to use them.

The calming effect of the sensory toys are just a great addition to our daily routine. I also use them as a reward to be able to focus on tasks during their small groups. The kidcut safety scissors helps students practice cutting shapes and lines safely, the alphabet and number puzzles greatly help during our ELA and Math lessons and the fidget toys, nutty toys and construction vehicles has been very useful in developing students fine motor, focusing and social skills.

It is my goal to make lessons in ELA, Math and Writing more interactive and fun with the use of all the resources that you have provided for my class. Again, thank you for your generous heart and in partnering with me educate our kids with special needs!”

  • Interactive Distance Learning to Engage Children With Autism

    Funded Feb 3, 2021

First of all I would like to thank you for supporting my class and mostly my students during one of the hardest times in my teaching career. Despite all the trials we have been through you all managed to put a smile in our faces and for that we will always be grateful for.

I delivered the workbooks to all the students and they are using them to practice their fine motor skills to target their writing goals. The math books were used for homework and review of the concepts learned in class. The sight word books were used to practice their reading skills.

The green screen was the highlight of our zoom time. I used it to make interactive backgrounds to make the lesson fun and engaging. It was such a joy seeing the students faces light up when they see me in a farm, or the beach or other places related to our topic.

Again, from all of us THANK YOU for your generous and kind HEART!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Verceles

It also helps the students strengthen their fine-motor skills by manipulating alphabets and numbers and forming them to make robots. The math file folder games help the student to daily practice patterns, sorting and counting. The literacy wiz game is helping the students practice spelling of 3-4 words in a fun way. It is also very beneficial for the students who has difficulty using writing implements. I would like to thank you very much for your never ending support in my classroom. Your donations continue to support my students in all aspects of learning.

The fidget toys are being used while they are sitting and attending to tasks during whole group instructions. The earphones are used by students to focus on their computer or iPad work and not be distracted by other noises in the classrooms. The academic materials such as letter beads, file folder games and robot builders are being used to enhance their reading, math and science skills necessary in building academic success.

  • A New Computer To Enhance My Computer Based Lessons

    Funded Dec 30, 2017

I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for funding my project. I have been using the computer to access unique learning system in my classroom which is an online curriculum for students who are not able to access the general education curriculum. ULS is an online, interactive, standards-based curriculum designed for students with special needs. With a newer computer, we are able to access the program better and faster. I also use the computer to access social skills instruction to be projected for the students. I am able to use it in creating lesson plans, writing individualized plans for students and email parents.

The new computer is exciting for the students because they now have more choices for computers to use in the room. Some of the students also use it to play educational games, practice typing and watch educational videos and stories faster than our old computers. They are able to use the computer for watching science experiments in youtube and educational songs and exercises for music and movement.

There are some students who have really been accustomed to using the new technology of the MacBook. Some have learned the use of Photo Booth . They like taking pictures of themselves and looking at themselves which help children with autism with their body awareness. They have learned how to use the pages to practice typing their name and copy words and sentences from given models.

Again from all of us, THANK YOU...for being a part of achieving our educational goals!!! More blessings and power to you!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Verceles

  • Picture This: Visual Supports For Children With Autism

    Funded Oct 19, 2017

I am deeply honored that you have given my class the materials for my project. The printer has helped a lot in making communication boards for students, print schedules and vocabulary words to help my students understand the lessons and print social stories that help enhance the social and behavior skills of my class. The headphones helped me eliminate some of the sounds when students are on the computer/iPad center to help the other children focus on their own lesson. The bouncy band for the table has helped some of my active learners move and fidget while they learn in class.

The students were very happy when we received all of the materials. Adults and students alike were so excited like kids getting gifts from Santa.

This project has given me the opportunity to focus more on how to help students progress using visuals to support their communication and their social and behaviors. Communication for children with autism is an integral part in their learning.

Again from my classroom, thank you very much for your support in making my teaching more meaningful. You are the reason why teaching becomes more rewarding!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Verceles

  • Technology Literacy For Children With Autism!!!

    Funded Jan 23, 2017

Thank you very much for giving me an opportunity to receive the chromebooks. My students have been using them to access their teachtown and vizzle lessons. They are also learning how to type their names, the sight vocabulary that we are learning in class, typing sentences using a model and mostly to search for some interesting letter sounds/videos online. During small group instructions they are also used for websites that teach them how to read, type and solve math problems. Also, some students use it as a reward to finish their work.

The most exciting part about the chromebook is that I can now use this to project my lessons online to be able to do a group lesson using our unique learning system curriculum.

Two of my students have gotten really accustomed to using the chromebooks. They are able to turn it on, log in to our account, connect online and type the website that they need to go to.

The skills that they have learned in using this computer will take them to greater heights most specially when they start taking the state testing. They will be able to manipulate a computer and are so familiar with it that typing and answering questions online will not be a hindrance for them in passing their test.

Again from all of us....THANK YOU for believing in us and giving us this tool to make our education more fun and more meaningful!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Verceles

  • Creating A World Of Learning For Children With Autism

    Funded Oct 31, 2016

I would like to thank you again for supporting my classroom. My students were very happy and excited seeing all the new materials. We have been using the playdough for fine motor exercises by rolling, squeezing as well as cutting them. We are also using it to form letters and numbers during our small group instructions. Early concepts sing along flip chart and cd is a great hit during circle time. We are using it to learn basic concepts such as colors and shapes. The calming pillow is very helpful for some students who need to have breaks in between work. The different books for Math, phonics and sight words are being used to augment their alternate curriculum. I am so grateful for all your support in my quest to educate my students. My next step is to help my students learn a 21st technology skill which is computer literacy. I want my students to be well rounded and ready to face the challenges with great joy and dignity. Thank you again in partnering with me educating special children!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Verceles

I have 10 students with autism. They are in grades K-2. I have a very diverse group ranging from students who are moderate to students who are severe. My students are very tactile and have a lot of sensory issues. They need sensory breaks like jumping, squeezing toys and sliding but my classroom does not have the materials to satisfy their needs. I teach in a high performing school in Gardena, on a general education campus. Students and teachers are very respectful and caring to the students with disabilities.
