  • Don't Forget to Sign Your Check!

    Funded Sep 19, 2024

My students are learning to budget and the principles of saving and spending. The materials you helped provide will help increase financial literacy by participating in a simulated classroom economy. The paper and envelopes provided are used for recording keeping and issuing rent checks. Students must work and save every month to pay rent on their chair. The classroom student store supplies which were also donated provide students an opportunity to save and spend their money. Each transaction is recorded.

By incoporating the classroom economy in my room, students not only learn about financial management but also responsibility. The main goal is to save enough to own their own chair and eventually become a landlord but buying someone else's chair.

Thank you again for supporting our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Kangas

  • Let's Talk About Math

    Funded Aug 22, 2024

The donations received for this project has enhanced learning among all students in my math and science classes. Before the whiteboards, students were sitting and discussing ideas, while some were working independently. The whiteboards have helped student groups to organize themselves and their thoughts all in one place and to present those ideas to the class.

Students are learning to present to their peer about their work and ideas in a whole class setting. Students collaborate together to solve problems and have the opportunity to learn from each other as they gallery walk to see each others work.

The materials that you helped proved has enhanced my teaching and overall student learning. Students are more engaged as a result.”

  • Interactive Notebook Supplies for Curious Minds

    Funded May 11, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our class for interactive notebooks in science. We have been using these notebooks to record observations, make scientific drawings, and note taking. Students have been using their notebooks throughout our lesson on Microbiomes to reflect on what they have been learning. This has been helpful for me to see their understanding and engagement during the lessons.

Last year, we only used the online platform to record notes, annotations, and other observations. It wasn't easy accessing student responses until now. Through the use of interactive notebooks, it's much easier to glance and see how students are responding the the lessons and note any concepts they do not understand.

Your support has made a significant difference in enhancing our learning experience and encouraging creativity. We truly appreciate your kindness and commitment to our education!”

  • Building School Community Through Live- Streaming Special Events

    Funded May 10, 2024

Thank you again for supporting our school and my project. We had our final sporting event as the 8th graders played the staff in our annual softball game. The game was close but the staff won 4-1. We used the new camera to livestream using zoom to teachers and students who couldn't watch in person.

The stream was clean and the image was clear. Students were able to enjoy the game from their classrooms. I had student helpers manning the camera while learning how to run it at the same time. I know this is only the beginning of our livestream and recording productions. Thank you again!”

  • Calming Space

    Funded Nov 11, 2023

Due to your generosity, my students have a space in the classroom to take a moment for themselves to relax, gather thoughts, and work collaboratively. My students enjoy the carpeted area with comfy bean bag chairs and cushioned seating. I see the difference it makes in students' mental health to have a calming area in class. They get excited to gather in the calming area to work on projects together and to relax. Sometimes students sit and draw or use the growth mindset posters as reminders for self-care.

Thank you for supporting student health and academic success.”

  • Run Forest! Run!

    Funded Nov 24, 2021

Thank you for providing the materials like water bottles and running belts which helped our students succeed this year at the LA marathon. We used these to help train before the race. They were especially helpful on long, hot training days. Students were excited to receive the belts and water bottles. Instead of running with cell phones in hand, students were able to use the running belts to carry all their cell phones and other items. A total of seven students completed the race. Thank you for supporting our amazing runners.”

  • Think It! Write It! Share It!

    Funded Nov 10, 2021

I am beyond grateful for the opportunity you provided for my students! They will be excited to find out they have a way to interact digitally during our math lessons. unfortunately, there are learning gaps due to the challenges of the pandemic over these past couple of years and you have made it easier for me to address these gaps and to provide the means to improve mathematical understanding, comprehension and rigor. Thank you again for helping to fund our digital tablets. Your support is much appreciated!!”
