I Can't Believe It's STEM!
Funded Feb 5, 2016Thank you for your generous donation. The Lego WeDo robot that you donated has allowed more students to join the Robotics Club. The t-shirts that were part of this funded project are being transformed into Lab Coats and the students cannot wait to wear them with their badge.
Our school's funds are very limited, so without your help, my students would never have had these valuable resources.
Without donors like you, thousands of classrooms in the United States would go without.
Again, thank you for making a huge difference in the education of our students.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Cruz
This classroom project was brought to life by Infosys Foundation USA and 5 other donors.K'nex Mighty Builders
Funded Dec 23, 2015The K'nex Coaster building set has allowed us to recruit more students for the Robotics Club. They started to build their roller coaster and they have been very engaged. This project will further their education in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
When my students saw the K'nex building set they were super excited and very eager to start building. This project has allowed them to take an active role in their own learning without much supervision.
When they finish building this roller coaster, their project will be presented in the school's town meeting. Students and staff members will be able to see the roller coaster in action.
Thank you for making a difference in the lives of our students.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Cruz
Robot, Camera, Action!
Funded Nov 19, 2015Thank you for your generous donation. The 2 in 1 notebook is allowing us to integrate technology into our classroom. Our students can access the Lego MindStorm website to build the robot of their choice. Once they build their robot, they will have to write codes in order to program it.
This new piece of technology has become an instant celebrity in our program. This touchscreen notebook can flip over to become a tablet with a beautiful display.
The notebook will also be used to create a public service announcement promoting the need for Robotics in New York City Schools. They will also talk about the positive impact that S.T.E.M. has on children.
Thank you again for investing in the education of our students.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Cruz
This classroom project was brought to life by EMP Museum + Paul G. Allen Family Foundation and one other donor.Stocks, Robots, Action! Part Two
Funded Sep 24, 2015Thank you for your generous donation to our After School Robotics and Stock Market Club. The bluetooth speaker that you donated has helped our students everyday. We have used the speaker to listen to music while the students work on the construction of their robot. The speaker has also allowed us to listen to podcasts pertaining to financial news for the Stock Market Club.
The good thing about this speaker is that it uses bluetooth technology. This feature eliminates the need to run wires all over the place. The speaker connects wirelessly either to a computer, tablet, or smartphone.
Again, thank you for making a difference in the lives of our students.”

Funded Jul 30, 2015Thank you for your generous donation. The MacBook will allow our students to buy stocks online, do research and work on their multimedia projects. The Financial Literacy Program will increase their math, reading and writing skills. The paper, pencils and notebooks will be used for the Stock Market Game activities and lessons.
Research is a key element in maintaining a successful stock portfolio. The notebooks will also be used to maintain a journal where they record meeting minutes and trades.
In closing, we would like to express our appreciation for helping our project take place.”

Creating a Storm in the Mind of our Robot.
Funded Jun 9, 2015Thank you so much for your gift. Your gift is helping improve the lives of our students. The Lego Mindstorms will allow our children to build and program a robot. The hands-on section will help our students understand that they can control the robot with certain codes.
Our robotics club will take place after school. It will teach our students critical thinking, programming, teamwork, designing and different ways to solve problems.
Your investment in the education of these students will produce great dividends in years to come.”

Funded Jun 3, 2015Thank you so much. Your gift is helping to improve the lives of our students. The Xbox One will be monitoring our student's workout history. Students will be able to measure their own heart rate as well. For example, it will track their movement and give them challenges geared toward their age group.
The monopoly game will teach our Investment Club lessons on finance and investing. It will also teach them not to put all their eggs in one basket. This will definitely help when they build their stock portfolio.
Again, thank you for making a difference in the lives of our students.”

Ms. Cruz
The Mighty Stockbrokers
Funded May 13, 2015Wow, Wow and another Wow! My students were thrilled to receive the Microsoft Surface Tablet 3, keyboard, and stylus. This tablet will make a huge impact in our Financial Literacy Program/Stock Market Game because our resources are very limited when it comes to technology.

What's up Stocks?
Funded Apr 6, 2015We would like to express our appreciation to the Donors Choose Team, Ms. Elsa, and the PwC Charitable Foundation for taking an interest in helping the Fairmont Neighborhood School implement the Stock Market Game through the use of technology.
The MacBook Pro has allowed our students to play the Stock Market Game and compete against other schools with a goal of making the most money. By participating in this game, our students will enter the world of business and finance.
This project has given my teaching a boost because my students are learning about financial responsibility. The programs we have in place connect to many of the Common Core Standards.
Thank you again for making such a great investment in the education of our students.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Cruz
