  • Phonological Awareness With Heggerty

    Funded Nov 27, 2024

Thanks to your generosity, my students have made strides towards reading proficiency by helping me strengthen their phonemic awareness. We've been able to add Heggerty's phonemic awareness to our daily phonics routine.

Students have been able to break apart and isolate individual sounds in words. The intentional progression has them mastering more and more complex skills. My students were given the opportunity to build strong alphabet knowledge activities, and phoneme-grapheme connections setting them up for literacy success.

    Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Roberts

  • Quick Print Organization!

    Funded May 25, 2024

This project has made back to school a breeze! I have always used stickers to help my students label EVERYTHING. We label supplies, notebooks, consumables, even themselves the first few days!

This label printer has allowed me to print all of our stickers quickly without having to use a printer. The printer and stickers were also used before the end of the year. I was able to give every student an "I met my reading goal" and/or "I met my math goal" sticker that they could wear with pride throughout the halls of the building.

I cannot wait to use the sticker printer throughout this new school year. The opportunities are endless!”

  • Secret Stories for Second Graders

    Funded Dec 17, 2023

You have no idea the positive impact this has had on my students! We utilize our Secret Stories everyday. We have been using them during phonics to introduce new letter combinations and during writing time when we come to a spelling option that needs to be explored. I even have students coming in asking do we have a new Secret Story today?!

By aligning why letters do what they do to human behaviors Secret Stories has made our new, more complex phonics skills more accessible, allowing students to quickly gain strategies to be a reading and writing super star!”

  • Indoor Recess Fun!

    Funded Feb 3, 2024

You have no idea the positive impact this has had on my students social emotional learning. With our new indoor recess activities, students are playing the whole time cooperatively, learning to communicate, and how to win (and lose) gracefully.

I've been able to include new games that students would never have had the chance to play. The excitement they have shown for indoor recess has risen exponentially and we no longer groan and moan when the weather doesn't allow us to play outside.

Giving my students the opportunity to continue to play cooperatively indoors and outdoors will benefit my students for years to come!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Roberts

  • Headphones for Everyone!

    Funded Aug 17, 2023

As we are now more than a quarter of the way through second grade, I can honestly say the headphones you've helped put on my students heads have made such an impact. We've not only used them daily but you have allowed those unable to afford them to have working headphones for our digital learning time.

My students are careful when using the headphones and appreciate having the opportunity to use them. My students most favorite part of the day is listening to reading and now everyone can listen to fluently read text daily at the same time!

We appreciate you more than you'll ever know !”

  • Orton-Gillingham Training

    Funded Aug 1, 2022

I cannot thank you enough for giving me the opportunity to attend one of the best professional development trainings I have ever attended. By being trained to teach IMSE's Orton-Gillingham's structured literacy program I can attend to some of the neediest third grade readers at my school. I use the program daily with 5 readers focusing on intensive phonics instruction. I have really enjoyed seeing this program and the strategies I learned support and enhance my existing phonics instruction. Adding my new OG strategies to my phonics toolbox has not only deepened my own understanding and confidence in phonics instruction but given my students a new opportunity to succeed.”

  • Speaking Up With Q-Ball

    Funded Aug 26, 2019

After this holiday break, my students and I were lucky enough to start in a brand new building! We opened the box together in our brand new classroom and the gasping and wonder that was on their faces was amazing. I then explained how it was going to be used and that we could THROW it and every student began to ask when we would start using it!

My students are more than excited to share their learning now while we are using the Q-Ball! Allowing my students throw the ball to their classmates has given them a reason to raise their hands!

We can't thank you enough for helping make our classroom an innovative learning space where my students voices can be heard!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Roberts

  • Motivated Learning in Flex-Seating

    Funded Jul 27, 2018

I would like to start by explaining the incredible impact you had on all of my students. Your donation has made second grade and amazing experience. When the cushions and recliners arrived in my classroom the following day the bright green and blue colors immediately caught their attention. They couldn't wait to ask me what are those things? How do we use them? Can I go first? As we each took turns sitting on the recliners and cushions it became obvious this was going to be an Important part of our classroom environment. Every day they make the responsible choice for themselves, about which seating option is best for them and their learning. Motivating my students to sit at a comfortable spot around the room is not just empowering but, could there be a better reward than that?

My students and I use the cushions and recliners EVERY day while participating in small group activities and independent work. We use the them while reading. We use them while we are writing. We use them while we are doing math. We use them every day, all day.

I have to admit that even after a long day in the classroom I find myself sitting on them as well! You truly have made my classroom a more exciting and better place to learn and we cannot thank you enough.”

  • Hokki Stools

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

I would like to start by explaining the incredible impact you had on all 23 of my students. Your donation has made the rest of our year in third grade and amazing experience. When the stools arrived in my classroom the following day the bright green color immediately caught their attention. They couldn't wait to ask me what are those things? How do we use them? Can I go first? As we each took turns sitting on the Hokki stools it became obvious this was going to be an Important part of our classroom environment. For example one student in particular will ask me every day if he could sit in the stool rather than his chair. Every day he makes the responsible choice for himself, about which seating option is best for him and his learning. Giving him the opportunity to win a lot he works has changed his perspective on working in the classroom. Motivated to sit at his desk strictly because he can sit in the stool, could there be a better reward than that?

My students and I use the stools EVERY day while participating in small group activities and lessons that target struggling students. we use the stools while reading. We use the stools While we are writing. We use these stools while we are doing math. We use them every day, all day.

I have to admit that even after a long day in the classroom I find myself sitting on them as well! You truly have made my classroom a more exciting and better place to learn and we cannot thank you enough.”

    With gratitude,

My students are bright, bubbly second graders with a love for reading. As a teacher in a magnet school, I am lucky to have a diverse classroom with students that come from a variety of different backgrounds. As their teacher I plan to give them every opportunity that I possible can. Each of my students is incredibly bright and eager to learn! They come to school excited for new learning opportunities every day and new listening centers will only grow their love for reading exponentially.
