  • Help Our Students Avoid Hunger

    Funded Jul 31, 2024

We are less than a month into the school year and we've already given out almost 100 granola bars to kids who have been in need of a snack. The impact on them and us is immeasurable, as the ability to feed them helps them both physically and emotionally.

I think you for helping us support our kids and helping our kids have better days. The cost for us to continuously buy healthy snacks is an impediment to being able to have snacks available for them and with your contribution there is no conflict.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Rahimian

  • Keeping Our Kids Fed and Ready to Learn

    Funded Mar 3, 2024

Thank you so much for your donation to our 8th graders. We spend a lot of our own money throughout the year on buying snacks for the kids. We try to purchase healthier snacks which are often more expensive and it takes a toll on us over the year. At the same time, we are committed to our students and know that their basic need of being fed is imperative to their regulation as well as their education.

Thank you for taking time to read our page and donate to our kids. With all the innovations in education, nothing surpasses the importance of having our basic needs met and we are incredibly grateful to have the ability to provide for our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Rahimian

  • New Teacher Set Up for a Great Year

    Funded Feb 18, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donations to help our students access the material. Having pencils seems like a minor ask but when students don't have the necessary basic supplies to do their work or take notes, they are at a huge disadvantage. This also means it's on us to supply them with pencils. And with about 130 students, we go through pencils very very quickly. Having a well stocked pencil cabinet ensures us that whenever a student's pencil breaks or gets lost, we can provide them with a pencil without it becoming a point of contention.

We also appreciate the things that aren't necessarily as dire. For example, positive Spanish stickers are a fun and easy way to give students positive reinforcement and make them feel good about the work they do. Even though they are in 8th grade, a sticker goes a long way in their confidence and sense of self.

In the future we plan to use these supplies to help the kids. The bluetooth speaker allows the new teacher to play videos at a volume where kids can hear what is being said.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Rahimian

  • 8th Grade Team: Help Us Help Them

    Funded Feb 15, 2024

Our students were so excited to receive these new materials and supplies! There was excitement in the air and appreciation in the teacher's hearts. The students in math were excited to move their math problems to the post it wall white boards and collaborate together. The students were excited to color their maps and poetry books when they saw the new box of sharpened colored pencils.

Even something as mundane as taking a test was more exciting because the students had nice new test dividers to use. It might seem trivial to people outside of the classroom, but giving a test with marked up, beaten down dividers has a very different feel than nice, new, clean materials. The kids were grateful and so were we.

Our next steps include having more grade wide activities that include coloring. For example, we have plans to do an identity mapping activity where students use different colors to indicate their feelings about themselves and having colored pencils allows us to do so.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Rahimian

  • Making Math Real

    Funded Sep 15, 2014

Thank you so much for your donations to my classroom. My students were excited to use all the new materials and it added a lot to their learning process. We use the resources all the time. For our chapter on linear equations, students were easily able to graph lines using a white board marker and a graphing white board. This was more time efficient than using graph paper and it allowed us to work smarter. The students loved being able to draw on the white board and then erase if they need to. They were able to mark it up as much as they wanted without it being set in their notebook. By having a class set of white board markers students were all able to participate.

I am so happy to have these materials in my classroom and with such quality pieces, my classrooms for years to come will also benefit.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Rahimian

My seventh and eighth graders are students who are using mathematics to help make sense of the world around them. They are learning about themselves and what it takes to solve a problem with every math equation they solve. My school is a project-based constructivist school where the students are given an opportunity to explore the world around them and make connections that relate to them. We speak more about the process than about the solution with a heavy focus on our class being a community, much like the school.
