Preparing A Creative Classroom
Funded Jul 17, 2016Thank you so much for your kind donations. I was able to start the year off drawing with new colored pencils, painting on canvases and creating sketchbooks sewn by each student. It was really great being able to offer the students new materials that they could freely explore and work with.
My senior art students were thrilled when I told them I had canvases for them to work on; they have always just painted on paper & it is really exciting to see the things they are pushing themselves to do on this new surface.
We are moving into quarter 2 now and continuing to use the materials. The senior class is going to be working on a piece that reflects a social issue, current event or election follow up and I am very excited to see what they come up with.
Again, thank you so much for your kindness and donations, we all really appreciate it!”

Making Technological Strides
Funded Dec 30, 2014Having a projector in my room made a huge impact and was an extremely important addition to my classroom. It is now mounted on the wall above the whiteboard and is used on almost a daily basis. Have access to this technology in the classroom allows me to show students examples of artwork and templates for projects. It is important to me to have access to this technology in the classroom and it is a very helpful tool for staying organized. I am able to work on lessons and presentations at home and show them on the screen the next day. I appreciate all donations that we received and am grateful for all those who care about supporting the school.”

Foundations Of Art: Making Strides
Funded Oct 3, 2014Thanks you so much for your support in the classroom. My students and I were so grateful to receive some of the most basic but essential materials. I told them about how I had worked hard and wrote an essay! (insert shocked students' faces...) to get these supplies for us to use. They have been very considerate in not wasting anything - which I greatly appreciate.
We were able to dive right into painting! We now had paint, brushes, and paper so there were so many possibilities. We created "Harmonious Balance" paintings. The paper was divided into quadrants. Each quadrant had a design with a different type of balance or symmetry (Symmetrical, Asymmetrical, Approximate Symmetry & Radial), and each quadrant had a different color harmony (Complimentary, Split-Complimentary, Analogous & Triadic). They turned out beautifully.
I can't wait to continue to make beautiful things happen in the classroom.”
