If learning to read is like building a skyscraper, then First Grade is the year to construct the most solid reading foundation possible. I teach First Grade in the inner city of Chicago. We serve many low income students who do not have access to technology or even books at home. I expose my students to many kinds of books so they can enjoy reading. My hope is to inspire the love of reading and provide them with the best possible means to succeed in the future.
