The program I work in at Magruder serves students impacted with significant mental health needs that require access to a self-contained environment and full time mental health support. Students require a fully self-contained setting to access coping skills and strategies to deal with anxiety, depression, school avoidance, and other mental health impairments. Students are slowly introduced back into the mainstream setting; while still being provided intensive services and flexible accommodations. Students present with internalizing behaviors and require structure and support to feel comfortable within the school setting. Students present with a range of academic abilities and have access to or are willing to work with outside providers to manage their mental health needs.
