Ohhhh, Now I Get It! Formative Assessment for College Success
Funded Dec 14, 2010Thank you very much for your generous donation to my classroom. The supplies that you have donated will help students in the multiple classes I teach daily. Not only will I be able to incorporate more formative assessment, gathering information on student learning minute-to-minute in the classroom, but my kinesthetic learners will be able to use the manipulative's to increase their engagement and comprehension during classroom activities.
As most city schools, we have been facing extreme budget cuts which makes your donation even more appreciated as we don't always have the opportunity to use new supplies or have the means to purchase necessary ones. Providing these materials for all students in my classes is essential for meaningful, long-term learning. Additionally, these supplies will greatly aid my students with special needs and who are English language learners.
I appreciate your very generous donation which helps to make learning an active and inquiry based discovery for my students!”

Attendance, Technology And Power!
Funded Feb 24, 2010Thank you very much for your generous donation to our school. The flip video has allowed me to record the daily lessons and post them online, allowing students who come in late or are absent to easily know what exactly they missed in class. The laptop has given my students consistent access to a computer during my class periods and before/after school so that they can complete typed projects on time, have access to the Internet for research and catch up on work that they missed. The materials are used everyday and have greatly added to the AP culture and expectations.
With the budgets continually being cut in New York City, I am appreciative of the generous donors who value education and believe in the students as our future! For the 11th and 12th graders at my school, being able to be exposed to an AP level class and all of its expectations has provided valuable lessons in college level course work and expectations. With donations such as these, I am able to set up this environment for my students.
Thank you again, we sincerely appreciate your donation. As we prepare to succeed in our AP exam in May and I prepare for future groups of students next year, I feel so lucky for the possibilities given to me by donors like you.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Orsi

Funded Nov 26, 2009Thank you very much for your generous donation of AP Psychology review books to our school and students, we began to use them the day they arrived! The AP review books are helping my students to outline and break down the information in their textbook in preparation for their assessments. In addition, it will prove to be a valuable asset in preparing for the AP Psychology exam in May 2010. We have already gone through the books and learned how to navigate them and use them to our best advantage so my students' goals of receiving a 4 or 5 on their AP exam is looking more like a reality.
As a result of the current budget cuts that New York City is experiencing, our school did not have enough money to purchase the review books for my students, therefore your donation has been met with excitement and gratitude as my high school juniors and seniors prepare to receive college credit while in high school! A major goal of the AP program at my school is to expose our students to college-level classes and workload in order to fully prepare them for college, ensuring their success in high school and beyond; your contribution has played a role in that mission and vision.
Thank you again, your donations have allowed classrooms such as ours to excel academically. We appreciate your generosity!”

Funded Aug 10, 2009It is with the greatest appreciation that I am writing to thank you for your generosity in choosing to donate AP Psychology textbooks to my school. It is because of you that my students in a Title I city public school are able to not only have access to college-level course in high school, but be exposed to material that will prepare them for college. I know this opportunity will be a very important stepping stone in their academic career. Thank you for facilitating that.
With the current budget shortfall, your assistance has assured my students have access to the necessary materials. Exposure to college curriculum and expectations will not only prepare them for college, but teach them more about themselves as academic students in their current high school setting.
We have been using these textbooks daily as an integral part of the classwork and as well as homework in preparation for the AP Exam in May. They will be an essential component to ensuring that they do well on their exam and earn college credit.
Thank you again, we really appreciate it!”

Ms. Orsi
