Our school is located in the heart of Denver and our diverse student population are from many places from around the Globe. Many of our students walk to school from within the neighborhood, some of our students who are disabled come to us from around the city on a school bus.
I am a center based Special Education teacher for 8 students in grades Kindergarten to 2nd Grade, who have disabilities in the moderate to severe range. Everyday my students are excited to come into the classroom and I greet them with a hug and a smile. Some of my students are nonverbal, need a wheel chair to get around and/or need to learn with many different teaching tools.
My students love to use the interactive white board, work on science experiments and participate in math and reading centers. My students thrive in small group instruction for both academics and adaptive skill and working hands on with classroom helpers and with technology.
