Second Graders Need a Flex-Space Mobile Easel!
Funded Jul 31, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donation to my class!
When my students first saw our brand new easel, they all gasped and cheered! They called it "fancy!" and clapped when they saw it has wheels and is magnetized (two functions my very old easel did not have). When I told them it was donated, they wanted me to pass along their "thanks!".
We use the teaching easel everyday. It is so helpful to have a space to hang anchor charts, write morning messages, and I use it to display vocabulary and concepts during science. My students can't reach the whiteboard over our built-in shelving, so it's great to have a whiteboard space that they can easily reach.
Thank you again for your generous gift to my class!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Ikeda

Funded Dec 12, 2014We are loving our beautiful new carpet! After our project was funded, I told the children we would be receiving a carpet with personal spaces and lots of bright colors. The kids were eagerly awaiting the carpet and were thrilled the day it arrived.
The rug brightens up the whole classroom, and gives us a happy and inviting place to start our day, listen to stories, sing songs, and much more. Each child now has a designated personal space - no more squished kids! The personal spaces have helped the children develop spatial and body awareness. They now feel comfortable on the rug and can focus without being too close or too far from one another. The carpet is now a place where the kids enjoy being! Moving from our tables to sitting on the carpet used to take much longer. Now, the children know exactly where their spot is. This has cut down on transition time quite a bit.
The new carpet has not only helped the children with spacing, focus, and transition time, it has also been a learning tool. Since each space has a letter of the alphabet or a shape, we are able to play different games using the rug. In one game, we stand in a circle and I give each child a picture card. They say the name of the object, and stand on the letter it starts with. I also dismiss the children by colors, letter sounds, and shapes.
I can't thank you enough for your support of this wonderful gift for our class. We enjoy it everyday!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Ikeda
