I teach struggling readers that have been recognized as the lowest level readers in their grade. My students formed a negative attitude towards reading before entering my class this year because they weren't able to read novels on their interest level that were also on their reading level. I have two Orca Soundings novels in the classroom right now, and the students were so excited to read those and show success on their Accelerated Reader comprehension quizzes. They are asking for more novels that are real and relatable since most of the novels in our library are geared toward middle school students.
