We are a small, Title One School in a small town. Parents do as much as they can to help but technology is just out of their budget. My students come from all races and backgrounds. Each year, I have many kids whose home life is challenging and they have a hard time focusing on school when there are many more important concerns in their little brains. The one place I can get them all to participate fully is the computer lab. I have yet to find a kid that doesn't love technology! If I could bring more of that into our classroom and get them excited from a different angle then I am all for it!! We use a Daily 5 format for our classroom management which means the children are able to choose where in the classroom they would like to work. An iPad would be a piece of movable technology that the children would earn time on by reading and writing. This incentive would help unmotivated children sit up and take notice. And what would they do on the iPad? Reading and writing games, of course!
