Funded Oct 27, 2015In this day and age, technology is a part of our students everyday lives. It is important as a teacher to bring technology into the classroom as well. My students have been using our new iPads weekly for so many different projects. In math, my students have been making videos teaching others how to add using regrouping. In reading, my students created and videoed book reviews that we then turned into QR codes and taped them onto the different books. We also made posters on topics that the students were becoming experts on and displayed the posters for our reading fair. We have let other 2nd grade classes borrow our iPads to benefit more 2nd grade students. The kids get so excited when we begin a new project on the ipads.
The most exciting part for the students is being able to produce their work in new and engaging ways. For example, students are learning how to explain their thinking in math by teaching others through an app called Educreations. Students made book reviews and recorded themselves talking about the book through an app called Adobe Voice. We are able to use the iPads for so many subjects.
The greatest aspect of an iPad is how easy they are to use. We can pull them out on a moment notice and not have to worry about loading them up and the time it takes to turn them on. My second graders are able to navigate the iPads even if they do not have them at home. My lower readers love the iPads because they can read and be read to using them. They are also taking quizzes on their reading and do not feel anxiety over taking a test because it is fun for them. My higher students also love the iPads because they are able to take their work to a whole new level of creativity. We are thrilled that you have helped make our classroom much more engaging and fun.”
With gratitude,
