Relax for a Minute, then get Ready to Learn
Funded Oct 12, 2023My class and I want to thak you so much for your donations to our "Relaxing Corner". So far, nearly every student has taken advantage of our corner to recenter themselves to be able to participate in learning activities and lessons. Students have said the corner makes them feel calm and relaxed. They have also said how comforting it is to have a safe place to go to relax and get ready to learn.
Students say the chairs are soothing and that the plants and tree makes the area seem quiet and relaxing. They also appreciate the stress balls which allow them to let go of their frustrations and feel relaxed.
I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your generosity. The excitement my students feel about this new area of our classroom is amazing. Your donations have already made a difference in my students' learning. The Donor's Choose community is amazing and you all never fail to support our projects. As teachers, we are so fortunate to have you all.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Brown

Funded Nov 30, 2022My students and I want to express our deepest gratitude for the keyboards and charging supplies we received from your donations. As my students are now in middle school, they are doing a lot more writing and the on-screen keyboard of their tablets can be difficult to use at times. The keyboards they received have really given them a boost. They also seem to enjoy writing more and have increased the amount of writing they are doing.
My students use their tablets at school and at home so they need extra charging devices. Often, they might forget their chargers at school or at home. By giving them an extra charger, you have helped insure their tablets are always charged and ready for classroom and home use.
My students and I truly thank you for your generousity.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Brown

Funded Feb 12, 2015When this school year began, I once again began thinking about how I was going to raise the varied reading levels of the students in my class. Each year, I try different strategies to engage students and help them develop a love for reading. This task seems to become more difficult each year as so many students come to me several grade levels below where they should be in reading.
This year, I wanted to try some new approaches including adding an On line component using a program called Raz-Kids but I knew it would require a lot of computer time which is difficult to find in my school since computers are in short supply. In addition, I wanted to create a place in the classroom where students could go to relax and read. One of my assistants and I sat down and together we came up with "The Reading Paradise". We thought of all the materials we would need and decided to try asking for donations to cover the cost.
That's where all of you came in. You donated to our project and made it possible for us to create "The Reading Paradise".
When the resources came, the students were amazed and in awe that people they never met would donate to them. They immediately wanted to spend time in Reading Paradise and we began setting up the On line reading program.
I immediately saw both gains in student's willingness to try reading new and more difficult material and an increase in their love of reading. Almost every student wants to spend time in Reading Paradise daily. Nearly every student has increased at least one reading level in the last two months and some students have increased by three levels. They are able to track their progress and get immediate feedback on how they are doing. In addition, I am able to track skills they are struggling with and provide immediate support to individual students.
My class and I are so grateful for your donations to our "Reading Paradise". Your donations will have a great impact on not only this year's class but on classes for years to come. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to take my dream and making it a reality.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Brown
