"It's Better To Know How To Learn Than To Know" - Dr. Seuss
Funded Sep 26, 2015First, I want to thank all of you for the generous donations! I am so grateful to FINALLY have my own classroom library to share with my students. The books that I received are used for multiple activities and lessons that I do throughout the school day. The kids were so excited to open this gift and they wanted to read all the books the first day! After opening the boxes, I let the kids browse through the books and had them do picture walks. I then explained to them how we are going to keep the classroom library clean and organized so it makes it easier for them to find and select books.
After my students are done with their Literacy centers, I let them choose a book to look through and/or read. Some days I choose the books and place them at each center, other days I leave a bin of a specific theme out and let them choose. I also do a reading/writing center where they can choose a book and draw/write about their favorite part.
Many of my students do not have access to books at home so they were very grateful to receive this gift. My ELL students love these books because they are filled with colorful, bright pages. Even if they can't read yet or understand English, they are able to look at the pictures to create their own story.
Elissa-we hope you enjoy our thank you card!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Gulizia
