My school is a Bring Your Own Device school. If students have technology available to them, they are encouraged to bring the device to school. During the school day students can use the device for multiple reasons such as, typing out their writing assignment in Google Docs, taking spelling test in Google Docs, and/or using a student response system like Pear Deck to answer and pose questions. The possibilities are endless when it comes to using technology in the classroom. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about 21st century ideas. However, Palm Lane has a socioeconomically disadvantaged population of 76%. With poverty levels reaching more that three-fourths of the students, many students will not have the ability to bring a device to school. I would like to have iPad Minis for students who do not have access to bring in technology from home.
