  • Clean Clothes, Clear Mind: Laundry Detergent

    Funded Nov 24, 2021

Thank you so very much for your generosity! Our team was thrilled to receive these supplies. We work collaboratively to meet the needs of our students and their families. We work to remove any barriers that may impede our students success, which at times, can be clean clothing.

Many families have been able to walk away with laundry detergent pods to keep their clothing clean and our students returning day after day! These have been especially helpful to the families that are new to the country and have little resources to start their new lives in Philadelphia.”

  • Here, There, Underwear!

    Funded Sep 21, 2021

Thank you so very much for your generosity. Your giving has contributed to peace of mind for many of our students across grades. Unfortunately accidents do happen and is a sudden and stressful experience. Having these undergarments easily accessible and centrally located for our students limits disruption. We have been able to reduce the number of parents having to leave work to pick up students or drop off a change of clothing. Thank you for you giving to an essential project and giving the intangible gift of peace.”

  • We Can't Mask Our Excitement!

    Funded Oct 6, 2021

Thank you so very much for taking the health of our children into consideration when you gave to this project. Thanks to your generosity our project was fulfilled and students were safe and in style as they donned their new masks. These masks were especially handy during more humid climate and when classes were low on the child-size variety. Though the mask mandate has been lifted here in Philadelphia, our students are still choosing to wear masks. Thank you again for your kindness and generosity.”

  • You're Not You When You're Hungry

    Funded Sep 24, 2021

Our community is deeply grateful for your contributions and the fulfillment of this project. Due to scheduling and other factors, my grade can have lunch as late as 1:30pm. These snacks were quick, healthy, and easily accessible for our students to enjoy until their lunch time. By having a mid day snack, our students were able to get their physical needs met and refocus for class. Once the snacks arrived, students could not believe people they have not met would bless them in this way. Thank you again for your generosity and thoughtfulness. You made many hearts and bellies smile.”

  • My Favorite Book Is...

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

Thank you for your thoughtfulness and generosity. Thanks to your giving, our students get to enjoy colorful texts that represents cultures much like their own and some that are quite different.

One of my favorite texts that have been used regularly is B is Breathe: The ABCs of Coping with Fussy & Frustrating Feelings. We've been using the Headspace app and the ABCs of Coping to help regulate big feelings--especially after the lunch period where conflicts tend to arrive. Other texts like Milo Imagines the World was used to talk about making negative first impressions and turning them around.

These texts touch on a variety of themes, like overcoming obstacles, creativity, and compassion all the while representing people that look like our students. Representation matters and we are so grateful to have these books in our library. Thank you again for giving.”

  • Hands-On Math

    Funded May 27, 2021

I am truly flooded with emotions each time a project is funded. In part, because kind and generous people like yourselves contributed towards materials that are crucial in student learning, and at the same time I feel an overwhelming sense of relief.

Due to switching classrooms and age of materials, my students did not have access to math manipulatives. At this age and given the circumstances of the pandemic (online learning), our students rely on the use of tangible materials to understand new math concepts. The place value blocks aid in representing numbers and applying a skill whether it is addition or subtraction up to 1,000. In time, students will be able to rely less on the blocks and transition to the use of the dry erase boards and number line that was provided. Later in the year, students will be using the clocks and coins to tell time and manipulate money respectively.

All of these skills will guide them as they learn more complex topics and these materials will surely aid them in that process.”

  • Recess, Please!

    Funded Jun 4, 2021

Thank you for so much for your generosity. Your giving impacted our school in more ways than expected! Not only were students able to use the equipment during recess, they were able to use these materials during their physical education class.

Students were excited at the new shiny hula hoops, jump ropes, and other gear. During recess, our children our students have hula hooping matches in the school yard and practice skip counting as they jump rope. Before our physical education equipment arrived, these materials were enjoyed by students at the gym.

As the temperatures drop and indoor recess is on the horizon, we'll be implementing the use of the yoga mats for stretching in some classes. Thank you for providing much needed materials to help our students enjoy recess and physical education.”

  • I Can Hear You Loud and Clear!

    Funded Dec 18, 2020

This project has been one of the most essential products that has been funded over the years. Teaching and learning during a pandemic has been quite difficult especially because we were not in our traditional learning environment. Still, with your support my students and students from other classes as well have been able to navigate the remote school by using the noise canceling headphones.

One student could not have been more excited and relieved to receive a pair of noise canceling headphones after his pair of earbuds broke. He spent the rest of the afternoon showing off the crisp sounds he heard and could make using the microphone that are attached to the headphones. He kept announcing his gratitude throughout the day and has been more focused since.

Thank you so very much for your support during this time.”

    With gratitude,

  • Ready for Remote Learning

    Funded Dec 3, 2020

I could write 'thank you' hundreds of times over and that still would not adequately describe my gratitude. In December, I began teaching 2nd grade due to overcrowding. I was equipped with my district-issued laptop and in the age of remote learning, that wasn't enough. Thanks to you, I can see all of my students at once using the monitor. I was so excited to set up the second monitor that I took a picture of my new set up and sent it to my co-teacher! The wireless mouse was also very helpful in that it made less cable clutter and I am able to navigate the monitor and my laptop painlessly. Thank you, thank you, thank you for transforming my remote teaching experience.”

  • Can You See That?

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

Thank you for from the bottom of my heart for funding the document camera. The same day I received it, I put it to use! I use the document camera almost every day and for nearly every subject. From quick art breaks to math and reading, the document camera is used to display materials and resources that I have here in my living room and presents it to them on their screens! Holding up the whiteboard or books to my laptop was not only inconvenient, it was difficult for my students to see! Now they are able to see clearly. Thank you so very much for your generosity and for making our remote schooling experience better.”

    Ms. Ryan

Hello and welcome to my Donors Choose page. Our students are vibrant, curious, hilarious and eager to learn. They are excited to explore new material and support one another through the process. However due to budget cuts within the district, our students need your support. Though they come from an urban and economically disadvantaged neighborhood, that does not make them any less deserving of a quality education. All of our students, despite their socioeconomic status, require and deserve access to learning materials. Not only will your donation provide supplies, it will promote their learning experience and greatly impact their future. Thank you.
