Extra! Extra! Reading Student News Topics
Funded Aug 13, 2019Our Scholastic News Magazine arrived two weeks ago and my students were really excited! They really enjoy the fact that it is a newspaper that is tailored to their interests and that they are able to keep the newspaper too. Some of the topics have been: fire safety, Mo Willems (author), skeletons, being a good friend (anti bully campaign) and learning about different communities.
The students were very touched knowing that the magazines were purchased by kind donors who value their education and support them in their educational goals.
I personally am grateful to have this valuable resource for the students to enhance their learning. With our magazine subscription, we are also able to access online resources.
Thanks again for contributing to my classroom. I assure you the resources have been well received. You have added smiles in our classroom and valuable resources to aid our class.
I would also like to thank you for purchasing color ink for our class printer. We have used it to print books for our small group reading. We will also publish our writing later this year.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Garcia

Funded Oct 31, 2018Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom. Your donation helped fund our reading and writing initiatives in our classroom. We purchased books, lap-desks for writing, printer ink to print more books, and teacher workbooks to use in the class.
The day the materials arrived the class was so excited to see all the boxes. We opened the packages together and when they saw all the new books they were so excited. Each child is able to check books out from our class library and they are going through the titles so quickly in order to meet their reading goals.
We have a subscription to a reading program and we are able to explore and print our books in color. These books are also part of our class library.
The lap desks have provided flexible seating in the class and students are very excited to complete their writing in a different location around the room.
I am so grateful to have donors like you who invest in education. Our students were so touched that people who do not even know them were willing to purchase these items for the class.”

Funded Sep 29, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donation. The students and I were so excited when the supplies came in. Their faces lit up as we unpacked the boxes.
The supplies purchased were mostly math workstations. The workstations allow the students to work in groups on previously taught objectives. The workstations allow them an opportunity to practice skills using tangible objects. For example we purchased a money workstation where they are given a menu and a coin purse with play money. The students can add the total and subtract and make change.
We also purchased a measurement workstation where they are given different items to measure. They compared the lengths and put things in order for biggest to smallest.
Their favorite item was the math computer station. The game has the students review different objectives and we use it on the SMART Board. I am able to immediately see if the students understand the concept and the students are able to use technology in their learning.
All the items you helped purchase are going to great use in the class. I truly appreciate your assistance and the students are really enjoying using them in the classroom.”

Mrs. Garcia

Funded Oct 27, 2015Thank you so much for your generous donation to my third grade classroom. We purchased books that are used in read aloud. The book topics helped to teach valuable lessons about rules, consideration for others, manners, and self respect. I read the books aloud to the class and we had class discussions about them which helped us set the tone for the school year.
We were also able to purchase workstations, which are independent, student-guided activities that reinforce skills and allow the students to work in a group. While the students are using the workstations, I am able to pull small groups to reinforce reading skills. The students especially enjoyed these because it was a great opportunity for them to be responsible for their own learning. They were able to learn at their own pace and problem solve within their group.
The students have used the printer that we purchased to type their compositions and print in the classroom. Many of the students appreciated that they could print in color.
I think it is great that you support schools by providing funds for the classrooms. Your help is greatly appreciated and my class of 44 students has really benefited from your generous contribution. Thank you for supporting teachers and education.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Garcia
