What Do I Do When I Feel Like This?
Funded Feb 23, 2021What a difference these books have made in my class! They have given me a basis for lessons on kindness, perseverance and friendship. Students were introduced to new concepts for social-emotional growth.
The students who were impacted by and enjoyed the books most were my students who were experiencing trauma related to covid and everything that entailed. I loved seeing them pick a book to relate to a character that was going through the same thing the student was.
These donations were needed to cope with the many feelings that came about by school closings, covid and the return to the classroom.
Your will never know how much this meant to me and my students!”

Indoor Recess at a Safe Distance
Funded Feb 24, 2021Thank you so much for your donation! I can't wait to see the kids faces when they see all the new things to play with during recess! Just yesterday, a child said, "Mrs. Hammer, if I had some blocks, I could practice being an engineer. " He will be able to do that because of your kindness. Your kindness humbles me beyond words!”

Reading is Boring...Not Any More!
Funded Aug 11, 2020What a crazy year it has been! The first half of the year, I was a virtual teacher to 22 wonderful, curious 2nd graders. The materials provided allowed the students to have their own dry erase boards, markers and erasers. Funds were also used to purchase digital materials that made reading fun and engaging. (Not an easy task virtually.) As the new semester started in January, I went back to teaching in-person with 14 of my previously virtual students. The answer buzzers I purchased along with the reading games have been big hits! The students love being the first one to light up their buzzer during small group.
My students were amazed, curious and excited when the materials were unveiled. There were many "oooo"s and "ahhh"s when the materials were open and demonstrated.
As I think toward what is next for my students, it can be described in one word...consistency. Using familiar materials that still encourage creativity and learning are necessary during these unfamiliar times. My students and I are working hard to continue reading with a passion and learning with our hearts and minds.
Thanks again for your generosity and willingness to help our classroom!”
