Tag! You're Hooked on Reading!
Funded Sep 1, 2009Thank you so much for donating such wonderful additions to our Tag Reader center! My students love the new books. In particular, they really enjoy the the Pirate and Dinosaur books, which really tap into their interests, stimulating their desire to read.
They also really love the Phonemic Awareness book series. These books are helping my students gain the pre-reading skills--such as rhyming, segmenting syllables, and identifying sounds--that will allow them to become lifelong readers.
Thank you so much for helping to inspire my students,”

Ms. Gale
Isn't That a BIG Deal?
Funded Apr 17, 2009I can't overstate the impact that your gift made on my students this year. These Big Books have been so wonderful in motivating my students in their desire to read and learn. They allow them to read together very easily, which is extremely helping in allowing students to feel like competent readers--when one student cannot decode the word, often another student can. Not only did we receive some classic favorite books that the students already loved (If You Give a Mouse a Cookie is always a crowd pleaser!) but these books have also exposed them to new titles that have become big hits, in particular Our Cat Cuddles. These Big Books have been integral in allowing many of these students to become confident, independent readers. Thank you for having opened up a world of opportunity for them, one that will have an immeasurable impact on their reading skills.
Another lesson you've taught my students - one just as important, I think, as improved reading skills - is to know that there are kind people out there who care about them, sight unseen. That's a big deal to them. Many of my students come from homes with low socio-economic status. Particularly at a time like this, they need support now more than ever. The kindness of strangers means a lot to all children, but it means much more to kids who don't see much of it than it does to their counterparts with plenty.
Please never doubt that you've made a significant different, this year in 16 lives, with your generous gift. A thousand thank yous aren't enough.”

Power Up For A Greener Classroom!
Funded Apr 29, 2009Thank you so much for your gift to our classroom! These reusable batteries and the battery charger have allowed my students to continue enjoying to use our Tag Readers, an incredible educational resource. They have also inspired my students to become more environmentally aware. I have put them in charge of changing the batteries as much as possible (due to the dexterity of small five year old hands), and this has prompted quite a few conversations about conservation.
Every time a Tag Reader chirps that it is time to change the battery my students diligently bring it over to me (as it requires a screwdriver to remove the cover) and then we go to get two new batteries from the charger. As I help them change the batteries and replace the cover, we often talk about how we are saving energy by reusing batteries, and other ways to save energy and the environment.
It is truly wonderful that this project has made my students aware of this cause--while at the same time helping them learn literacy skills through the use of technology. It is all thanks to your help.”

Ms. Gale
Tag! See How Much You Can Read!
Funded Mar 26, 2009Thank you so much for donating such wonderful additions to our Tag Reader center! My students love the new books, activity cards, and activity boards. In particular, they really enjoy the Tag Funny Phrases, and Walter the Farting Dog Goes on a Cruise. They love writing silly sentences, and reading about a dog that farts.
They also really like the animal activity cards. These cards have really broadened my students knowledge of animals. They love seeing and learning about animals that they have never heard about before--but even more exciting, they love hearing the noise that the animal makes!
Thank you so much for helping to inspire my students,”

Big Book Bonanza!
Funded Jan 16, 2009Thank you so much for your benevolent donation! The books you have funded will be such a wonderful way to enhance the centers in my classroom. The big book center is one of the most popular centers in my classroom: the students love using highlighting tape to highlight the words that they know how to read fluently. By having these classic children's books in this center, I know that I will be able to increase my students' interest in this center even more. I know that my students will love using these books as they continue to grow as readers and writers. From both my students and myself, I thank you for your generosity”

Tag! You're Reading!
Funded Feb 6, 2009I can't overstate the immediate impact your gift has made on my students. These Tag Readers have been so wonderful in motivating my students in their desire to read and learn. I hear them talk about the books that they have been reading long after literacy centers are over--even coming back from recess I hear them talk about how much they enjoyed reading such books as Olivia and Fancy Nancy at the Museum. Without these Tag Readers, many of these children would never have been able to read these books independently. You have opened up a world of opportunity for them, and one that will have an immeasurable impact on their reading skills.
Another lesson you've taught my students - one just as important, I think, as improved reading skills - is to know that there are kind people out there who care about them, sight unseen. That's a big deal to them. Many of my students come from homes with low socio-economic status. Particularly at a time like this, they need support now more than ever. New Library for Our New Classroom
Funded Dec 15, 2008Thank you so much for your kind donation! My students are avid readers and having a library stocked with a wide variety of reading materials is vital to keeping them engaged in their learning. I know that my students will be just as thankful as I am to have such a wonderful collection of classic literature in our classroom. I know that these books will stay with my students for years to come, even after they have left my classroom. Thank you so much for helping to build this library: I know that it will be one of the most precious parts of our classroom and will affect their learning in more ways than we can imagine”

Guided Gophers
Funded Nov 17, 2008Thank you so much for your donation to our project! These books will be invaluable in helping my students to develop their reading skills. I know that by having these books, which are rich in sight words and picture clues, my students will gain the confidence that is so necessary to help them become proficient and fluent readers. They are so motivated and these books will help keep that motivation level high. Thank you so much for your generosity”
