  • Printing Vibrant Visuals for Students With Autism

    Funded Mar 31, 2023

I wanted to express my gratitude to everyone who donated to help get our project funded. It takes a village to support our students, and you have ensured that we will have the technology we need in order for them to be best supported. A color printer and toner are something that we use on a daily basis and are used in almost all activities throughout the day. Having these supplies will make sure that our students have vibrant color visuals to learn from for this school year and many school years moving forward. Thank you so much again to everyone who had a part in helping this project get funded!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Marber

  • Hands On Distance Learning For Students With Autism

    Funded Jun 2, 2020

Thank you so much for supporting our class during distance learning. We never realized how helpful these materials would be and how long this pandemic will last. The materials you helped to fund have continued to support our students both at home and in the classroom. I have seen parents become more empowered to participate in their child's learning at home and the materials you have helped to fund were a big part of that! Thank you once again and know that your continued support is much appreciated!”

    With gratitude,

  • Made for Me Math for Students with Autism

    Funded Sep 1, 2019

Thank you so much to everyone who helped this project get funded! It has been great to have additional math materials that are on our students level which already have adaptations built in for our students with special needs. It has been great to have books to go along with math concepts such as counting, sorting, and comparing numbers. Some of the favorite books so far have been "Five Little Speckled Frogs", "Inch by Inch" and "Bear Counts". Thank you once again for taking an interest in our students and their continued educational success. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Marber

  • Vibrant Visuals for Students with Autism

    Funded Aug 5, 2019

Thank you to all the donors who helped get this project funded, once again. It means so much to all of us that you are invested in our students' success. Access to this clipart has been so helpful to create materials for our students that have specific needs in different areas. Some of the most helpful images that we have used so far woul dhave to be the colors bundle. Many of our students are working on early academic skills and the images were exactly what we needed to create custom work for them. The months of the year image have also been helpful to go along with many of our classroom themes in order to create work to go along with them. Thank you once again for your support!”

  • Reusable For Years: For Students With Autism

    Funded Apr 17, 2019

Thank you so much once again for funding a need for our classroom. It really means so much to be able to get these materials to make reusable resources that will last for years for all of our current students and students to come. The laminating sheets have been the single most used item in our classroom to create hands-on materials for our students indiviualized to their needs and goals. Additionally, we have been able to make materials which are sent home with students for use at home as well. Thank you from all of us for helping our students succeed!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Marber

  • Smarty Symbols for Smarter Students With Autism

    Funded Jul 9, 2019

I continue to be amazed and grateful for everyone who cares so much about our class and the students in it. We are so excited to continue to be able to use the Smarty Symbols program to create new and useful visual supports to make sure our students are learning in the best way possible. The possibilities of everything that can be made for our students are endless. We can now continue to make visuals for the classroomand supports that can extend to the home for routines such as getting ready for school, bathtime, or bedtime. • Toner And More For Students With Autism

    Funded Mar 6, 2019

Thank you so much for all of your kind donations which helped to get our project funded! It means so much to my students, partner teachers, and I that you took the time to support our classroom. The toner has definitely come in handy and came as such a great time as we were running out of our black toner. We have printed instructional materials such as task boxes, homework, fine motor worksheets, adapted books, and more. It has been so helpful to be able to print materials in full color, especially for visuals schedules and picture icons. Thank you once again for helping our students learn and grow!”

  • iPads for iMprovement Part 4: For Students With Autism

    Funded Feb 28, 2019

The new technology that you have brought to our classroom has already given our classroom team much insight into the behavioral and academic progress of our students. Having an iPad in our room dedicated to collecting important data on student behavior and academic performance has increased efficiency and cut down on the time it takes to analyze the data we have collected. This has already allowed us to be able to spend more time planning meaningful instruction and helped us make important informed decisions so that our students can learn at their best. Thank you for making our classroom a great place to learn!”

    With gratitude,

  • Made For Me Literacy For Students With Autism

    Funded Dec 3, 2018

We are so appreciative of everyone who took the time to read our request and donate to our project. Made For Me Literacy is such a great program and now we finally have the books that go along with it! We are so excited to be able to learn about penguins, apples and pumpkins, turkeys, community helpers, snow, and more! My favorite part of having these books now is that students can access both fiction and nonfiction texts about a topic. We can now show them a wide range of information that will help them to understand each topic even more thoroughly. Thank you so much for thinking of our students and helping them by giving them even more books to read. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Marber

Our class has 8 amazing students with autism across 3 grades. Our students come from different wards from within DC, not just from the surrounding neighborhood. Our class is self-contained, meaning the majority of each students' learning takes place within our room. Many of our students also receive some instruction the general education setting and are able to interact & socialize with typically developing peers during the day. Autism is a developmental disability that affects the way our students interact and communicate with others. Autism is a spectrum disorder and our students' skills & abilities fall across the range of the spectrum. Some students are near grade level academically and some are not yet communicating verbally. Each student is unique and has their own strengths, gifts, & support needs. All of our students need support in communication, behavior, social interaction, and daily living skills.
