  • Healthy Snacks for Excited Second Graders!

    Funded Nov 14, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donations. It has been really nice to have healthy snacks to pass out to my students every day. My students look forward to taking a little break during their learning, having a quick snack, and getting back to work. It helps them reset and refocus since we have such a long morning of learning before lunch time!

When I first told my students that we had snacks donated to our classroom, they had a hard time believing me! When we opened up the boxes to see what snacks there were, their reactions were priceless. I think they were most excited to have a variety of different snacks to keep it exciting!

A lot of my students are not able to bring snacks to school, so your donations are truly appreciated. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Inslee

  • Engaging Chapter Books for Independent Reading!

    Funded Jun 8, 2023

My students were so excited when I opened up the large boxes of new books for our classroom! It was so fun to show each set of new books and see the looks on their faces when it happened! I think my students were most excited to see the "Dog Man" books in our library, especially since I purchased an entire set!

Most of these books have been the first to be picked when students are book shopping and are being read daily during our read to self time. My favorite thing about getting new books for our library, is students are choosing to read independently during free time which makes my heart so happy. Thank you again for your donations! It has been exciting and fun to spruce up our classroom library!”

  • Fun and Exciting Classroom Supplies for Our Classroom!

    Funded Dec 19, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations. Because of you my students have so many new books, art materials, educational resources, crafting materials, and even a new pencil sharpener.

My students were so excited when we opened up all of the boxes of goodies but I think they were most excited for the new classroom pencil sharpener! Our old sharpener would break all of the time and was not reliable at all. The new sharpener is amazing and the kids are so happy about it!

It has been so nice getting new items for our classroom. I have been teaching for nine years now so a lot of the things that I bought new when I started are ready to be replaced. Thank you for getting this process started and helping make our classroom a fun, exciting, and safe place for my students.”

  • Healthy Snacks for Second Graders!

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Thank you so much for taking the time to donate to our project. The healthy snacks have been a hit with my students and they look forward to it every day. They love the goldfish, pretzels, and fruit snacks, but there favorite so far has been the rice crispy treats! :)

It was so exciting when all of our packages of snacks arrived! My students loved opening each box with me and seeing what was inside! You should have seen their faces.

We eat our snack every day around 11 am. It's a really nice time for students to take a break and eat, since lunch isn't until around 1:00 pm for them! I think it really helps them stay focused during our morning lessons before lunch. Thank you again for your donations! We really appreciate it and have loved having healthy snacks in our classroom.”

  • Healthy Snacks to Keep My Students Focused and Learning!

    Funded Dec 2, 2021

I can't thank you enough for donating all of the amazing snacks to my class this year! My students were so excited when they saw all of the exciting things that came in the mail! There were so many snacks, it will surely last us for a good amount of time! I love having the storage containers to store all of the snacks in- it keeps them fresh and organized! It's also easy to grab snacks quickly when I pass them out each day.

Since we have such a late lunch, snack is something the students truly need each day to help them stay focused in the mornings. It's nice having a healthy snack to give each child so they can be successful each day. Thank you again for your generosity! It is appreciated!”

  • Chapter Books for Excited Second Graders!

    Funded Sep 24, 2021

Thank you so much for donating all the amazing books to my students! It was such a nice surprise for them when I opened up all of the boxes and showed them. My second graders have really turned into readers this year- I have some students who do not want to put their books down! It has been really fun to watch students find a love for reading this school year. They love all of the options of chapter books that we have in our classroom now! We also use some of the chapter books for read alouds, which my students always look forward too.

We do reading centers daily, so students have a certain amount of time each day to "Read to themselves." Students get to book shop each week and pick new books for their reading time. They love the "Read to Self" center so much!

Thank you again for helping us expand our classroom library! Since this is my first year teaching Second Grade, it was super helpful to receive fun and engaging chapter books.”

    Ms. Inslee

  • Technology for Kindergarteners and Distance Learning!

    Funded Oct 8, 2020

I don't even know where to begin with how helpful the technology items I have received are in our online classroom. I think this may be my best donors choose project yet, since I use these items every day and they are so incredibly helpful to me.

It has been so amazing having a second screen (the ipad) that I can create google docs, learning games, sight words, math problems, read stories, and show videos on. I share my ipad with the class and am able to watch students and interact with them while I am sharing my screen. It has been a game changer! It's so easy to connect and use. I also use my ipad to give students points on 'class dojo" which students are super excited about, and I have a whiteboard app that I use each day to write numbers, letters, and words for students to read on. These things have changed my virtual classroom for the better. Before receiving these items, we were all kind of struggling. With the help of this technology, we are doing much better and the students are making great progress.

Something else that I love is the document camera! It is so nice being able to share my screen with students and show them exactly what I am working on. It has made a huge difference in my math, reading, and writing instruction. Students can see the math manipulatives I am working with, the stories I am writing, and the books I am reading clearly and easily. I think my students favorite part about the document camera is being able to see stories that I read up close. They love when we read stories together, which makes me so happy. Thank you so much for donating to our classroom. We really appreciate it!”

  • Our Classroom Library: The Heart of the Classroom!

    Funded Oct 14, 2019

My students and I are so lucky to have a new and improved library! Not only does it look adorable, but it is super functional and practical! The bins are super durable and lightweight, so students can pick them up and move them around when they need to. The table and chairs are super comfortable for students to sit and read in, and the carpet is really comfortable and soft so students can sit and read on it if they choose too!

My students were so excited when they found out we were going to be getting new bins, a table, and a carpet, but they were even more excited when I actually set it up! I wish you could have heard their reactions when they walked into our classroom and saw a new library! It was priceless.

Thank you all again for donating to this project, we really appreciate it and are so happy to have a functional library space that we get to use each day.”

  • Engaging Young Minds With Books on CDs

    Funded Oct 26, 2018

Thank you all so much! This has been a crazy year with the most students I have ever had. We have a very busy classroom and students have been going through our books on tape faster than ever! It was so amazing to get brand new engaging books that my students love! You should have seen their faces when I opened up the box of books; it was priceless! They are so excited to read and listen to their books.

Reading is so important in our classroom and we do a lot of it! Students have 90 minutes of reading instruction a day so its important to have new books in our classroom so they can stay engaged. Eric Carle is a favorite author in our room. We love talking about his books and doing art based off of them. My students were so excited to see some new books from him that we have not read yet!

All of these books will be used for different learning strategies such as sequencing, problem and solution, main idea, etc. so I am so thankful to have them in our classroom now to teach about them and for students to have as a reading resource.

Thank you all again, it means so much!”

  • Play Based Learning For Some Hard Working First Graders!

    Funded Nov 28, 2017

Thank you so much for donating all of the amazing play based learning items to our classroom! I wish you could have seen the look on my students faces when I opened up the boxes from the mail- it was honestly priceless.

Because of your donations, every morning when my students get to school they get to choose a morning tub to play with to get ready for their day. Morning tubs have been a great addition to my classroom! My students have been thriving in the mornings when they get to school. I have noticed that it helps students arrive to class on time and it gets them in their seats quickly. Our days are getting started quicker and my students are able to start the day playing with their peers, building, and challenging their minds!

What I like most about all of the items that were donated is the creativity that it gives my students each day. They love to build and draw new things, and build and write and new words. These items make learning fun for my students and I am so thankful for that opportunity!

Thank you so much for taking the time to donate to my classroom, we appreciate you all so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Inslee

My first grade students are a diverse group. We are a Title One, low income school. Approximately 85% of students in the school receive free or reduce lunch services. For many students, English is their second language. Having iPads available to my students will enhance their learning ability, allow them to work independently, and offer choices they would otherwise not have. Many of my students have not been exposed to technology. My goal is to offer the maximum options for learning and keep all 32 student academically challenged.
