  • Adding the T to STEAM

    Funded Aug 2, 2018

Thank you so much for choosing to support my classroom this school year. I am looking forward to receiving the much needed classroom printer, ink, and Kindle Fire tablets. My students will be able to use the Kindle Fire tablets to learn about Science in a more meaningful way. Having an in-classroom printer will allow my students the opportunity to print their projects much more easily.”

  • Learning & Growing At ISTE Part 2

    Funded Nov 30, 2017

Thank you so much for donating to my project to attend the ISTE conference. It was a great learning experience from the moment that I landed until I left to return home. It was much of a world wind, but I learned many things that I can immediately share with my students this upcoming school year.

Some of the workshops that I attended that was most meaningful was the Brainpop.com educator trainer workshop, Flocabulary teacher workshop, and the digital science notebooking vs traditional notebooking workshop. I was able to learn how my students can create their own movies using BrainPop.com. I was able to learn how to use google slides to have my students take notes and write lab reflections while conserving paper and time.

Again, thank you so much for the opportunity. I can't wait to attend again next year.”

  • Bridging Computer Science & Science

    Funded Jun 6, 2018

I am so glad and excited that this professional development project has been fully funded to attend the Pathfinders Institute in Bloomington, INDIANA next month. I will be attending a week long training called Project GUTS. This training will give me additional tools and strategies to immerse computer science and coding into my daily Science classroom. Coding and Computer Science are the wave of the future and i believe that my students should have access to a well rounded education. Your donation makes this possible. I can’t wait to share all of the great things i learn!”

  • Gearing Up Our FIRST Robotics LEGO League

    Funded Apr 20, 2018

Your thoughtfulness and generosity has really impacted the engagement of my students. Thank you so much again for choosing to support my public classroom. We have loved having the extra laptops to use in our classroom. We are almost 1 to 1. That means that almost each student will be able to use their own device without sharing when completing assignments. It is much more engaging when they have their own. Using the new laptops, my students have been able to complete school assignments for Science class using Discovery Education and Brain Pop. The students have also learned more about coding using Lego Wedo, Lego Mindstorms, and Ollie robots. It is amazing to see students learn about programming and coding using these robots. Without your support, the students wouldn't have these engaging tools.”

    Ms. Porter

  • Gardening & Coding in Science

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you again for choosing to donate and support my classroom. We have enjoyed having access to new Aerogarden machines and Ollie's to code. The students really love connecting science with the use of technology and learning to code. My students have used computers to program the Ollie robot to move based on the codes.

We have used the Aerogarden machines to start growing seeds indoors for our school garden. We were able to start earlier than last. This gave us a head start for the growing season. Once the weather was warm enough, we were able to plant those seedlings into the ground. We are so excited to harvest our vegetables and make salsa.”

  • Learning Through Movies: Wakanda & Beyond

    Funded Mar 6, 2018

Thank you again for the donation of books and comics for my classroom. My students are always thrilled and excited when new boxes arrive. The books arrived right after The Wrinkle in Time and Black Panther were released in the movie theaters. The movie buzz and conversation was still strong among my students. This project was very timely. The students were excited to read about the origins of the Black Panther and his scientific advanced country. We can't wait to incorporate their advantages with Science. I plan to have my student create designs on how they will use vibranium to solve or improve a scientific problem.”

  • Hands On STEAM Learning

    Funded Feb 25, 2018

Thank you so much again for donating to our STEAM project. The goal for STEAM learning is to provide students with the opportunity to learn using current, hands on methods. We have already used the items donated. We've used the slinkies to learn about the properties of waves. Students were able to model transverse and longitudinal waves by moving the slinky. My students loved being able to use a fun toy like the slinky to learn their science content. The students have used the Ozobots robots to code and program the robot to do certain commands. The students were able to use the robots to calculate the speed of the moving robots. I am now making learning fun thanks to you!”

  • NSTA or Bust!

    Funded Feb 13, 2018

NSTA was a terrific learning experience. Thank you for allowing me the chance to attend NSTA in Atlanta. Imagine dissecting a preserved rat at 8:00 in the morning to go along with you coffee. Or learning fun, hands on ways to teach students how to balance chemical equations before lunch. That is only part of the experience i received during NSTA this month. Thank you so much for your generous donations to fully fund my project.

I am so pleased to have the opportunity to attend professional development conferences. I was able to learn so much. Not only that, i was able to meet and network with other Science teachers around the country. I was able to learn by having impactful conversations on how to move students forward in learning.

    Thank you for supporting me!”

My students are diverse. Our school has many nationalities represented. My students are high achieving, yet from various different economic backgrounds. Our school is considered to be a school of need according to the number of students that qualify financially for free lunch programs. My students love to learn. They enjoy hands on labs where they can create products or explain and explore why things occur.
