  • Books for our "Drive-thru" Library!

    Funded Jul 15, 2020

Thank you so much for your generosity in helping me to purchase a wide screen monitor to better support the students, staff, and family at my school! Distance learning has been a whole new adventure for everyone in our community. When I am able to see multiple windows at the same time on my new widescreen monitor, it makes the experience that much better for the students, families, and staff on the other end of the Zoom meeting.

Your continued support of schools during this time is very much appreciated. I know there are a lot of causes out there competing for your attention and donations. On behalf of the members of our school community, thank you for your dedication to supporting public schools!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Key

  • A Widescreen Monitor for Better Distance Learning

    Funded Jul 15, 2020

Thank you so much for your generosity in making this technology available for me to use to support our school community - students, families, teachers, and more! So far this summer, we have been holding virtual community builders, Q&A sessions for families, book clubs, and more to help build community.

All of this work is made much more streamlined and clear when I am able to access all of the programs and tools on my computer using the new big monitor you helped me purchase! I am now using this experience to support other teachers at my school to set up their own instructional stations at home so they too feel prepared and equipped to teach class virtually.

Thank you again for your support and donation. It takes a village!”

  • Sports Gear Keeps Students Active at Lunch and After School!

    Funded Dec 2, 2019

Thank you so much for donating our new set of sports equipment! Even though we aren't currently using it while school is happening from a distance, we do have some updates for you!

First, our physical activities teachers are doing a great job at keeping students active from afar by offering virtual workout sessions and having students sign up for app-based fitness programs. These are vital to help students keep moving while we are sheltering in place! Some students are even doing the fitness routines with their families!

Second, the new equipment you purchased for us will continue to be used when we come back to school. As you can see in the photos we emailed, the courts, fields, and blacktop are full of students using the new equipment!

Stay well, and sending you all my best.”

  • Umbrellas Keep Us Cool and Comfy!

    Funded Jun 11, 2019

Earlier this year, you made a donation possible for umbrellas to be delivered to our school! We were closed over the summer, but when school started back up, our new umbrellas arrived and our students have been loving them. Thank you so much for helping us out to make this much-needed shade a possibility.

Our students loved building them, picking tables for the umbrellas, and then using them each day during lunch, office hours, and in between classes. If you have ever been in our courtyard before, you know it's a hot and sunny place! The umbrellas provide us much needed relief from the sun.

Thank you for supporting our community and donating towards this project - we couldn't have done it without your help!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Key

  • Shady Benches for Lunch and Outdoor Collaboration Time

    Funded Sep 24, 2019

Thank you so much for your help in purchasing our new benches and umbrellas for our big sunny courtyard. Students, teachers, and even parents use them constantly when on campus! Before school, during lunch, and after school in office hours, there is always someone taking advantage of a shady spot on a new bench or under a new umbrella. The reality is, we could use many many more, so please look out for new projects in the future to increase the shade in our courtyard! We need it!

This project was the result of many funders from all over the country. Many families from our school gave directly, as well as funders who have never even been on campus. When we come together, we can accomplish so much. Thank you everyone!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Key

  • Umbrellas Keep Us Cool and Comfy!

    Funded Oct 24, 2018

When our school first opened, the courtyard was a hot, barren, dry place. Slowly, as the gardening club and environmental committees accomplish their projects, the courtyard is becoming greener. The umbrellas are a huge relief from the sun, and a much-needed place for our gardeners and other community members to find respite from the sun. Thank you for helping us to beautify our campus, and for supporting our school. We cannot do it without our community donors such as yourself! Here's to a great new year and many more successful Donors Choose Projects!”

  • Take-Home Chromebook Allows Students to Get Work Done at Home

    Funded Apr 27, 2018

The take-home Chromebook you helped us purchase has now been in circulation for the past 2 weeks! As you can see by the photos, it has a secure home and enthusiastic student users. In particular, one student has been making the most of it, and is now able to work on his assignments and reading goals at home in the evening and on the weekends - something he had not been able to do before. Other students have heard that this opportunity is now available, and we have had many more requests for a take-home Chromebook. It is clear that this technology is in high demand, and I feel so grateful for your help in bringing it to our students!”

  • Finding Nemo: Our First Boat Ride, Searching for Whales!

    Funded Mar 8, 2018

We just got back from a once-in-a-lifetime whale watching excursion! Thank you so much for making this trip possible! We had a group of 25 head out to Moss Landing, where we boarded Sanctuary Cruises to see: a baby sea otter, albatross feasting on whale blubber, multiple pairs and trios of humpback whales, and a pod of orcas feasting on a baby whale they had hunted earlier in the day. The kids learned so much and let out a consistent stream of whoas, oohs, and ahhs (only some due to sea sickness!) In the end everyone was smiling about a memorable day. Many hope to come back soon! Thank you helping us inspire inspire in our students a love of nature and the sea, and for making this trip possible.”

  • New Grade Level, New Sports Gear

    Funded Mar 7, 2018

Great news! Our new sports equipment has already made it into the hands of our students! Our boys' soccer team held their tryouts and was excited to see who made it on the team. Our girls' soccer team is preparing for tryouts. Our boys basketball team just played in the playoffs and our girls' soccer team is gearing up for tryouts. The ball bin has been making it's appearance at lunch each day where students can now check out equipment. Having access to sports equipment might seem like a little thing, but it means so much to our student athletes and their coaches. Thank you so much for your support! We could not do it without you. Gooooo Spartans!”

  • Our Newest Sports Thrive With New Gear

    Funded Apr 26, 2017

The school year has started! You gave to this project many months ago, but I am happy to let you know that hundreds of students are benefiting from the sports equipment you donated. At our first Athletics Town Hall meeting, over 300 people were in attendance to learn how their scholar-athletes will benefit from the newly expanded athletics department at our college-prep charter school. Every day at lunch, in Physical Activities, and during basketball and soccer tryouts and practice, our 7th and 8th graders will make use of this equipment. Thank you so much for helping us keep our students healthy and happy. We cannot do it without your help!”

    With gratitude,
