I teach second grade in an inner city. Many of our families are struggling to make ends meet and can not afford any extra expenses. We also have numerous immigrants from various countries such as Somalia, Thailand, Mexico, Albania, Burma, Puerto Rico, and West Indies to name a few. There are so many children in our school who are below reading level for their grade and we spend a lot of time and effort to get them materials to keep them motivated and interested in reading. Weekly Reader would be a wonderful supplement to our Social Studies program. My students will be able to take them home to read with family. Most of our children come from homes with little or no books or reading materials appropriate for their children.
