Colorfully Organized
Funded Oct 30, 2022Thank you so much for your donation. My students have been able to strengthen their executive functioning skills through visual organization of their materials and thoughts. When they first saw the materials they were surprised. In the past, all class print outs were on plain white paper with black ink. Because of the colorful papers, my students were excited to organize with beautiful colors. My students have been able to use these print outs to organize their thoughts in their reader's notebook with resources, reader's response, and writing about reading. They also structure their Math notebook with problem of the day, anchor charts, and math extended responses. We also use these materials to print weekly agendas to help students and families stay organized with class assignments, homework, and special events.
This year I hope to continue pushing their organizational skills by using these materials with a new approach to keep them organized.”

Get Lost in a Book
Funded Aug 12, 2021Thank you so much for your donation to this project! The students were able to enhance their skills through more real world examples in these books. The best part was the connections they were able to make as we continued to learn new things.
In our class, students are constantly reading books of their choice and interest. In our classroom library students get the opportunity to book shop every week and check out books that interest them. By providing more books, I have seen an increase in participation and student engagement.
These books have been used in whole group instruction, student choice reading, and small group support. They have been incredibly beneficial to the students' learning and their progress! Thank you very much for helping the students grow.”

Funded Jan 1, 2021Thank you so much for your donation.the blue light glasses gave my students the opportunity to sit in front of a screen all day for their learning. The filter allowed their brains to take a break from the negative effects of blue light.
With the document camera I was to project many of my examples so the students could see a model of how to use the strategy effectively. I was also able to strengthen their comprehension by projecting pages of a book while I read it, instead of reading it and then showing the illustrations. This helped them form the connections in their head between the texts and the illustrations.
The students loved that I was able to share examples, models and stories with them virtually even though they were not in the classroom.
The students showed great engagement, participation, and comprehension with the use of the document camera.
Thank you again for your donation.”

Building Connections With Literature
Funded Dec 2, 2020Thank you so much for your donation. These books gave my students the opportunity to work with books in ways they have not been able to since before the pandemic. They were able to share personal connections to the characters, identify with the problems they were facing, and encourage others to read the same book based on personal recommendations.
With these books I was able to focus on connections (text to text, text to self, and text to world), story elements, character development, and mood/tone of the story. These books helped keep my student's interest because they were able to physically hold the book instead of reading off of a screen. Students were showing personal growth since they were more engaged made personal connections, and could easily comprehend the story.
The students loved that we were able to share them physically even though they were not in the classroom. We used them as book club groups to really strengthen their reading skills and push them to the next level.
The students showed great engagement, participation, and comprehension with these books. Thank you again for your donation.”

Funded Oct 9, 2020Thank you so much for your donation. These books gave my students the opportunity to reflect on themselves and their personal feelings. They were able to share personal connections, identify with the problems they were facing, and work together within our classroom family.
With these books we focused on building connections, reflecting on problems with solutions, identifying feelings, and ways to use positive self talk. These books helped keep my student's interest as we discussed personal topics that may have been uncomfortable to discuss. Students were showing personal growth since they were more engaged and made personal connections.
The students loved that we were able to share them virtually even though they were not in the classroom. We read them as fun read aloud to end our days. We also used them as ways to share with each other during our Social Emotional Learning time.
