My students struggle with reading, writing, and math. In Special Education, I work with them one-on-one to target their weaknesses and instill strategies to help them succeed in making them a strength. At home, my students can not rely on the help of a parent for homework. 96% of my students come from homes where English is a second language and even in their native language most of the parents are not literate. When sending home work for the students to do, I have to keep in mind that they will be completing it by themselves.
