Being a teacher doesn't just mean teaching children to read, and not just teaching about math, science, and social studies. It is also my job to teach children skills that will help them throughout their lives. To me, teaching students how to stay organized is very important. Being organized helps me to be a better teacher, and I know it will help them to be better students. Pencil boxes and folders will help students keep track of their school supplies and assignments. I like to give the students a folder to keep in their backpacks to transport homework, and another folder to keep in their desks to keep track of ongoing or incomplete assignments. To help with math instruction, I want to organize our math manipulatives into the plastic sets of drawers so that it's easier for students to use them. I would also like to use the easel & chart paper to make anchor charts to help teach them new concepts and be able to hang the charts easily around the room. The mini wipe boards give students an opportunity to practice these new concepts in front of me, in a fun way. I will have students come sit on the rug with me and the wipe boards allow me to look at student work easily and quickly. A new pencil sharpener, paper cutter & laminating film for my existing laminator in the classroom, will help me to prepare materials for the students, without having to leave the classroom. Finally, my students are lucky to each have access to a classroom Chromebook, but not all of them are able to bring headphones from home. Without headphones, they are unable to have the sound on without distracting other students around them, which makes many learning experiences less meaningful.
