  • Art Supplies For The Science Class

    Funded Sep 5, 2012

Thank you for choosing my project to fund. It is thrilling to know that I am able to obtain so many items for my art projects in science class due to your generosity. I can immediately begin to add the projects to my long range lesson plans.

My students will be thrilled tomorrow when I let them know that our class had a project funded on Donors Choose. It is always exciting for my to explain how total strangers donate money to improve my students' education.

Thanks again for all you have provided for my classroom. ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Critchley

  • Reading About Science In The News

    Funded Aug 22, 2012

Thank you so much for your generosity in supporting my classroom. School will be starting soon and I already have exciting news to share with my students.

The articles in Science World will enable my students to read about current issues while adding to their knowledge of the curriculum. North Carolina will be starting the Common Core curriculum this year. These articles will help me to keep my students on target. Because of your contribution, I have an interesting magazine to use in class to help my students learn.

It amazes me that total strangers are willing to donate to help my students succeed. I appreciate all you have done for us.

    Thanks again.”

  • Educational and Motivational Bookmarks For My Students

    Funded Mar 25, 2012

It is wonderful as a teacher to be able to give my students a small gift to let them know I am aware of their hard work. Who doesn't enjoy having their hard work noticed? Because of you I am able to do this.

Because of your generosity, I have various bookmarks to distribute to my students. Bookmarks are items which they need and can use in my Earth Science class. Sometimes the bookmarks match what we are studying. Sometimes the bookmarks are motivational. I received so many bookmarks that I have plenty to use next year.

Thank you for choosing my classroom to support. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.”

  • Everyone Needs To Learn More About The Earth

    Funded Feb 23, 2012

Thank you for providing workbooks for my Earth Science classroom. These worksheets helped with vocabulary and reading. My students were able to create a study guide for the upcoming test by answering the worksheets that were provided. These worksheets enabled my students to understand the outline of the section being read. Having these workbooks helped my students to read the textbook and understand the curriculum.

Thank you for helping my classroom by purchasing these workbooks for my students to use. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Critchley

  • Being Interactive In The Classroom Adds To The Learning

    Funded Nov 30, 2011

Thank you for providing my Earth Science class with several interactive DVDs. We were only able to use a few this semester but my students benefited from them. We have a Smart Board in the classroom and I want to use it to add interest and activity to my classroom. Being interactive with the curriculum helps students to retain the information. Next year we will be able to use them all semester. I have been reviewing my lesson plans to determine where each DVD should be used.

Thank you for helping my classroom. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

    Have a great day! ”

  • Ink for the Computer Keeps the Class Running Smoothly

    Funded Dec 2, 2011

Thank you so much for providing my classroom with plenty of ink for my printer. Often in the classroom the ink runs out when you must get something printed immediately. Because of your generosity, that never happened to me this year.

In my Earth Science classroom I print bulletins, interiums, worksheets, quizzes, tests, letters, projects and extra curricular information. These items require ink and often it is not possible to obtain more ink immediately. You solved this problem for me.

Thank you for helping my classroom stay productive. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.”

    Ms. Critchley

  • Earth Science Workbooks

    Funded Dec 17, 2011

The sixty workbook you provided for my Earth Science students were greatly appreciated. The worksheets helped my students understand the curriculum by outlining the sections and providing a study sheet for the upcoming test. My students benefited greatly by having these workbooks available.

Thank you for thinking of my students. It is wonderful to talk to my students about how complete strangers provide items to help with their education. Because of wonderful people like you, I am able to have some great conversations with my students about helping others.

Thank you for all that you have provided for my classroom.”

  • Pencils And Erasers For My Classroom

    Funded Oct 30, 2011

Having these pencils and erasers for my classroom have been wonderful. I have given them to my students as rewards and as prizes. My students have received rewards/prizes for winning a competition, for being caught being good, for doing well for the substitute teacher, for working extra hard and for just being my student.

Students love winning a competition and being noticed doing a good job. With these pencils and erasers I have been able to give them a prize/reward. It's great also that the prize/reward is an item they need and will be able to use. The large variety of pencils and erasers makes the winning more fun. Often it is not what they win but that they win that is important.

Thank you for giving my classroom this opportunity. I appreciate your generosity.”

  • Pencils

    Funded Sep 25, 2011

It has been wonderful for my students to have the colored pencils available for them to use. When we were studying the ocean, part of the assessment was to create a brochure about the ocean. This allowed the students to show what they leaned and to be creative and unique in their presentations. I was thrilled at their creations plus they enjoyed doing a different type of activity. My students have completed various drawings such as waves and volcanoes. The pencils have been used to add color to the drawings for more of an effect.

The colored pencils have been a wonderful addition to my classroom.

Thank you for your generosity. You are greatly appreciated.”

  • Magazines For My Earth Science Class

    Funded Jul 7, 2011

My students have enjoyed having the "Current Science" magazine to read in the classroom. Often it has been used after a test to generate interest in the next topic or to review an previous topic. The articles are written with the interest of high school students in mind. My students are often amazed at the topics covered. These magazines can also be sent home to keep an ill student current with the classroom's topics.

On the back of each magazine are mystery photographs and a brain teaser which my students have fun solving. Having this magazine available for my class has added interest in the earth science curriculum and in other areas of science.

Thank you for making this opportunity available for my students. It has been very beneficial for my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Critchley

I teach Earth Science to enthusiastic freshmen at a very at-risk high school. My students must pass Earth Science in order to graduate so I want to include fun and exciting activities and labs for them to experience. My students may attend an at-risk high school, but they will be competing for the same positions at college with every other high school student. I believe that a good foundation in science must begin with their very first year in high school.
