At P.S/I.S 34 we're reopening the orchestra program after being dormant for 20 years. The students are so excited, but a little hesitant. After many failed music teachers year after year, they have no confidence in music. Many of them act like they don't deserve it because of their demographic. The teachers in this school push to the extreme so that they can get the best education because they deserve. We devote ourselves to them and their future. The question is " who are they?" They're a group of students that are just looking for a chance to succeed. I gave them just a little lesson on composers and their curiosity exploded. Hands went up and questions were asked just based on the information that George Gershwin was from Brooklyn, just like them. It transformed them knowing that someone like them was given a change and succeeded. So please give my students a chance to learn, thank you!
