I teach math to approximately 35 students with special needs within a rural school district. I have students who have specific learning disabilities, autism, as well as other health impairments. Five years ago I had an abundance of money available to meet the needs of this special population. Today, I struggle to give them the supplies they need. Most do not have parents who purchase school supplies for them so I try to buy as much as I can for them. However, I cannot afford to buy them calculators or a camera that they desperately need.
