  • Battle of the Books Builds Readers!

    Funded Oct 3, 2024

We have kicked off our Battle of the Books season thanks to your amazing donation! All of the amazing titles have been added to our library collection and students are checking out books left and right.

As the books were delivered not only the kids were excited, but staff too! They books were so beautiful, our librarian got them put into our system right away.

All of our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders were invited to participate and we have over 50 students signed up. They have put themselves into teams and are working hard to read all 16 titles as a team to be ready to "battle" in January.

Again thank you for your donation and giving us enough resources to have so many students reading these fantastic books and building their love of reading!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gilbertson

  • Tools for Creativity!

    Funded May 23, 2024

Thank you so much for providing my students with the materials they need to keep art alive! They love making and sharing their art daily during our class centers.

Students were so excited to have watercolor paper instead of construction paper. They love the thickness of the paper and notice that they colors are richer and can hold more water.

They materials that you sent to help us dispay our work was also really exciting. We are now able to hang and change out our pictures with ease and kids love being able to manage it themselves.

Thank you so much for all of your support and the joy you brought to our class!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gilbertson

  • Fantastic Fun, Fantasmagory Readers!

    Funded Jun 2, 2024

I can't tell you how excited my students were to each get their own copy of Doryfantasmagory on the last day of school. I had so many students asking me if they really could take it home and if it was theirs to keep.

We read the whole series together through the spring. Kids loved our time reading this book and would beg me not to stop. As growing first grade readers they couldn't wait to now read it all by themselves. On the last day of school, I presented each student with their own book and my wish for them to read over the summer and never forget their love of reading with our community.

Thank you so much for making this joyful moment in our class. After summer break so many students came to me to share that they had read the book and they still were carrying it with them.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gilbertson

  • Learning Through Play!

    Funded Jan 23, 2024

We were in the middle of our human body unit when the new materials and resources arrived! The students were all so excited and couldn't wait to share everything they already knew about the body and how these would help them!

We immediately added the puzzles, games, and books to our classroom centers. Kids had so much fun using the vocabulary and learning new things as they played. The operation game was such a hit and they learned so much about taking turns and giving words of encouragement. Not only did the tools get them excited to play, they also helped them develop and practice their social and emotional skills of collaboration, resilience, and not giving up!

Thank you again for helping to make our learning even more fun and engaging!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gilbertson

  • Mathematicians Need Math Manipulatives!

    Funded Nov 27, 2023

My students were so excited when we opened the amazon packages filled with new math manipulatives for our math centers! They could wait to try each one. We decided to spend the next day letting each table group have 10 minutes to try out each one.

Each day for math students get to pick a math center to practice skills we are working on in first grade. The from the number locks to the peg boards, all items were a huge hit! Kids were not only counting and solidifying there number concepts but they were having fun while doing it!

These tools have been used everyday since we got them. Students never tire of using their math skills to play with these great manipulatives!”

  • Flexible Seating!

    Funded Sep 14, 2023

Students have been so excited to use our new flexible seating chairs. We use these chairs through out the day for a variety of reasons and they are kids favorites! During reading we use them to choose comfortable places around the room to read our books. We use them in our calm corner when we need to take a break and reset. We also use them to read or play with our classroom partners. Kids love having another option for working and learning in our class.

When we first got our new seats kids couldn't wait to try them! For the first 2 days each student got a turn using the chairs and learning how to adjust them and put them away.

We are so excited to have these chairs and we will do our best to take care of them so the next class can enjoy using them too!”

  • Make Something Beautiful!

    Funded May 18, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous support. Students have had so much fun using these paints to create beautiful art. We have made bubble art during our science bubble study. Students have also been able to make incredible murals from our insect study to outer space these murals have been a great way for students to share their learning through art. Students also love to use the art materials when they have choice time to create their own art pieces.

When we first got the new art materials they were so excited to experiment and play with them to see how they were different or the same as watercolor paint. They loved the bright vivid colors.

Thank you so much for providing these materials, they will be used for many art lessons to come!”

  • Support Student Creativity and Play!

    Funded Mar 2, 2023

Thank you so much for the materials you bought our classroom. The things that were donated have been used in so many different ways.

When the materials first arrived kids couldn't wait to play with the animals. We were learning about animals and their babies and being able to use these helped develop their vocabulary and understanding of many of the concepts we were learning about in science.

We have snails in our classroom and students loved having the models of the snail life cycle to hold and play with. The especially loved the magnifying glasses that they have used to look at the snails up close. Students have used the silks in so many ways from using it as capes, to table cloths and even water for a waterfall during their imaginative play with blocks. The laminator has been used to provide math games that can be used over and over again during math centers. The displays have helped make each center more inviting.

I am so excited to be able to use these materials over and over again each year!”

  • Decodable Books for Striving Readers!

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Thank you so much for helping me get these decodable readers for my classroom! These readers are by far the best ones I have ever seen and I couldn't wait to share them with my students.

One of my students has daily told me that he can't read. We have been reading several decodables and he can read them but doesn't like them. When I shared the new books and told him they were chapter books he was so excited. He took the book right to his desk and sat down and worked hard to read it all by himself. Then he came to me and said, "Can I have the next one!" He has now read one whole series and is ready for the next level!

Another group of students walked away saying, "I love these books! The characters are so cute."

Students are growing and excited to read with these fun books. I love that they can feel successful because the books are both engaging and helping them practice the skills that they need.”

  • Illustrators and Authors

    Funded Nov 17, 2022

Thank you so much for giving us the paper for our art projects. Daily my students come to school ready to paint, draw and create. Art is one of their favorite choice play areas. Being able to have heavy paper to create their art on has made them so excited.

The first time I put the paper out, the students asked why the paper was so thick! I was able to explain that we had been given paper that "real" artists use. They couldn't wait to try it out and were quick to show me how much better it was.

We have made animal paintings, heart art, and beautiful watercolors. Thank you for supporting these young artists!”

Our school is one in which students come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Over half of our population are on free or reduced lunch. Students are eager to learn and we are eager to share with them the amazing books that are out there! While many students are successful and already have a passion for reading, there are many that are still waiting to find that "just right" book. We are hoping that by providing students with rich literature, they will have the opportunity to discover the joy of finding a "forever book." A book that will be not just a book that they read, but a book they fall in love with and becomes part of them.
