My students need leveled readers that are exciting and engaging. Kindergarten students are expected to independently read on a level 6 by the end of the year. To make this possible, students participate in guided reading groups daily. They are enthusiastic and excited to be learning this new skill. Having both non-fiction and fiction texts will provide them with reading material that is both fun and educational. My students get tired of reading the same, outdated books over and over again. Having more variety during reading instruction will allow my students more opportunities to practice reading books on their level.
