  • It's Basic, Really.

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you for your generous donation to my classroom project. Your donation provides needed supplies for my students, which enables them to complete their assignments in a neat and exciting fashion. Having basic school supplies creates an enjoyable and intriguing level of academic excellence in the classroom for my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Carrabba

This classroom project was brought to life by an Anonymous Classroom Supporter and 4 other donors.
  • Snazzy Snacks!

    Funded Oct 6, 2022

Thank you for all your generous donations to my project. My students love having a snack during class to increase their energy levels.

This assortment of snacks will truly come in handy once my students return to school after their fall break.

Thank you again for your generosity in funding this project.”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Carrabba

  • Sew, Sew, Sew for Your Town

    Funded Sep 7, 2022

Thank you for helping to provide these sewing resources for my students. So far, my students have learned to thread a needle, make that all important thread knot, and stitch a small felt shape onto a ribbon to make a bookmark.

This week, my students learned to sew on a button. They are creating a design with buttons and stitching them down to a felt background. One students was incredibly excited that he managed to thread his needle and knot his thread three times!

We will be moving on to the sewing machine in two weeks, students will work to create a felt bookmark, and then move onto making a pillow from a t-shirt and a holiday placemat.”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Carrabba

  • Who Am I?

    Funded Jul 30, 2022

The supplies from this project have enabled my students to create "mini-me" characters. They were able to fashion a mini-image of themselves, to express who they are and what they enjoy.

The students had a fun time not only choosing a paper figure with a skin tone that matched theirs, but also in creating clothing that they designed. Some students were concerned about how the faces would show up, claiming that they are not 'good at drawing'.

Since this is not an art class, I encouraged the students to simply express themselves as best they could.

Overall, it was a motivating and enjoyable experience.”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Carrabba

  • We Are Blue!

    Funded Feb 18, 2022

Oh, the joy of having another matching table for our classroom! In Science, we need lab tables to conduct our experiments and complete our group activities. Desks just do not cut it! Our classroom had 5 tables but needed one more as well as chairs for that table. Your generous donations have allowed my classroom to have this table and chairs. The students really enjoy the extra space. I also like the extra space, but also love that the furniture matches. The classroom looks more put together than it did before.”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Carrabba

  • C-Clamps Help Build Models!

    Funded Nov 20, 2021

As a result of your generous donations to this project, my students have access to a very common tool--C-Clamps! While this is an unusual project request for a science lab, it is a necessary tool for my students to use to create a wave demonstration using another kit we have received from a Donors Choose project.

These C-Clamps have enabled my students to temporarily fasten the strings holding the sides of the wave model to a table and keep it taut so that wave movements can be demonstrated. Not only was this a fun activity, but it enabled my students to observe how waves move.”

  • Was Earth Created with a Bang?

    Funded Dec 26, 2021

My students are in the midst of studying the Big Bang Theory. These resources have provided my students with a variety of lab activities in support of this learning. This week, they worked with the diffraction gratings and spectroscopes to observe the diffraction of visible light into its component colors.

They truly enjoyed being able to see the different colors exhibited not only by white lights, but also fluorescent light, sun light and candle light.

They also liked observing the Doppler Effect with respect to sound. We are still investigating, but so far, this resource has been a very valuable addition to our curriculum.”

  • I See The Earth Move!

    Funded Oct 25, 2021

Students struggle to envision how the Earth is constantly moving and shifting under their feet. Really, how is it possible that there is continual movement that cannot be felt?

Providing them with this visual modeling activity of how plate tectonics act and react is vital to their success in eighth grade science. They are excited to use these models and benefit from the application of their knowledge. It is more exciting and engaging in science class when students can work with and apply their knowledge of a concept than just reading about it.”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Carrabba

This classroom project was brought to life by SONIC Drive-In.
  • Healthy Snacks for Focused Learning!

    Funded Nov 8, 2021

It is so very gratifying to be able to provide healthy snacks for my students. The assortment is wonderful, and the students have truly enjoyed making choices on a daily basis. Some students do not partake, others partake more often. Regardless of who the students it, they are welcome to a snack if they are hungry.

I know that hungry students cannot concentrate well on their assignments. This project has enabled me to have a varied supply of healthy snacks that the students can choose from.”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Carrabba
