Sensory for Everyone
Funded Aug 21, 2021I truly appreciate your donation to my project. Students are loving the Legos. Many of my students need a sensory diet to continue their "learning state of mind". Since getting the Legos, several students use the Legos for their 5-10 minute break time to create something they like and then return to their academics "refreshed" and ready to learn.
With your wonderful donation, students have a way to give their minds a "break" but continue their minds thinking cognitively (by creating different things with the Legos).”

ReSet Your Emotions
Funded May 11, 2021I truly appreciate your donation to my project. Students are loving the new flooring areas in the ReSet room and different areas in their other classrooms. So many students comment all the time how much they hate the desk and would love to just sit on the floor.
Students were so excited when they came into the ReSet room and saw the different sitting areas- both on furniture and on the floor. These areas truly help regulate their emotions and get them back on track to learn. In the classrooms, students are able to move about and sit in a more comfortable spot. With the amount of flooring this project gave, we were able to set up the ReSet Room plus an area in four other classrooms.
For some students, the floor gives them an area to work on their assignments or have a "flexible" seating spot to learn from.
Thank you again for your donation.”

Mrs. Franklin

Funded May 24, 2021I truly appreciate your donation to my project. Students are loving the new "movement" items that we have for them in our ReSet room. So many students need movement to regulate their emotions and feelings.
Students were so excited when they came into the ReSet room and saw the items they can use to help regulate their emotions and get them back on track to learn. Several students really love the bike petal machines. It gives them the movement they need plus it's a healthy activity that allows them to move.
When it comes to the lap folding tables, for some students it is a great way to put puzzles together in their own space or work on homework while sitting on the floor or on a "flexible" seating spot.
With your wonderful donation, students are learning healthy ways to help regulate their emotions without getting upset or frustrated. They can release their negative emotions by movement.”

Make Life Easier With Machines
Funded Apr 16, 2019Thank you so much for donating money to my project. With your support, my students will be able to have more hands-on activities to develop their understanding of Simple Machines!!!
My students will be so excited to have the items to use during Science class. Many of my students are not able to be creative because of supplies. So by having all these items, my students will be able to be creative.
When we received these items, my students were excited to open the Amazon boxes because they couldn't wait to see what I got for them to learn from.
Thank you again!!!”

Mrs. Franklin
Full STEM Ahead!
Funded Sep 18, 2018First, I want to tell you how much I appreciate your donation to my classroom. Thank you very much for all the items that I was able to receive to help my students in developing their STEM learning. When we first received the materials, it was like Christmas in October. I made a huge opening party and had students guess what was in all the boxes. They had so much fun just trying to guess.
At first, I just let the students explore and create things that they could come up with on their own. They came up with awesome wooden structures from the wood planks. With the colorful plastic disk, students were creating structures, flowers, cars, etc. The National Geographic motor kits, students were making cars, T-Rex's, etc.
My next step with the items are to have students work as a team to develop a plan on how to build or construct different items (a bridge, car, etc). My goal is to make this a life skill (job) project where students work together as a team where they have to research and develop what the "buyer" is looking for. With my students, just working as a team is goal for them- the socialization skill that a few of my students work on daily. At the same time, students are being creative and learning.
Thank you again for donating to my project.”

Mrs. Franklin

Funded Oct 27, 2014Alan Cohen quoted, "Appreciation is the highest form of prayer, for it acknowledges the presence of good wherever you shine the light of your thankful thoughts." Hello, my name is Bonnie Franklin. I'm a 7th grade Special Education teacher at Nevada Middle School in Nevada, Missouri. This past fall, my classroom received one of the greatest pieces of furniture for my students to use, Wobble Chairs. The positive impact in my classroom is wonderful.
Many of my students have problems staying focused on their work. With the Wobble Chairs, I have found that students can keep their attention towards work instead of sitting in a desk getting off track. The Wobble Chairs have a slightly rounded base allowing the student to "wobble" slightly, that is they permit a small amount of movement without distracting from the educational environment. A side benefit is that Wobble Chairs are a mild core body workout engaging core muscles and promoting balance and fitness. Several students use the chairs during reading time, when I am teaching, or just to work on their homework. I believe that these chairs have had a great impact for those students with their academics as they have improved their ability to remain attentive. The Wobble Chairs have been such a huge success. The demand for use exceeds the five we have in the classroom, for they are never empty.
There is something rewarding about being a teacher when you get to see a student succeed. Watching students' reactions when they use them is wonderful. The best example I can give you is one day one of my students was having a rough time sitting in his desk. Just imagine a student being a "worm" in a desk and having problems focusing because he was moving around so much. I asked him if he would like to sit on a Wobble Chair so that he could complete his work. The student laughed and said, "That won't help. I just can't stop moving around." However, the student took the chair, after a few minutes, started working, and completed his assignment by the end of class. Since then, he has been using the chair daily and completing his work.
Like Mr. Cohen quoted, "Appreciation is the highest form of prayer, for it acknowledges the presence of good wherever you shine the light of your thankful thoughts." I thank God everyday for the wonderful gifts I've received along with the gifts that others have given to my students and classroom. Thank you again for the wonderful donation.”

Mrs. Franklin
