The Hmong people are an ethnic group that were refugees from Laos after the Vietnam War. Many of them resettled in the area and the children that I serve are third generation as their parents were born in America. My school houses the first known Hmong Dual Language program in America and we are proud to claim that name. In teaching the students to be literate in their primary language, we hope to achieve the students' academic success in both languages (Hmong and English) many years to come.
