  • A Small Snack To The Rescue

    Funded Jan 4, 2024

I teach an after-school program to support student success in math. Most, if not all, of the students in the program are below grade level in math and already spend over an hour a day with me during the regular school day for mathematics instruction. I then ask them to stay for another hour and half for more math practice. This would be impossible without a small snack incentive. If you could have seen their faces light up when the big boxes were brought into the classroom, it was priceless!

You're playing a big part in supporting teachers on the front lines of education.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Butler

  • Smiles Can Change the World

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

It is amazing to see the smiles on my students faces when they heard that you supported our project. They saw the boxes arrive and waited with excitement to see what was in them.

The character bracelets were great for making all of my students feel included. They know that they belong and their bracelets serve as a great reminder of that.

Also very special, was the treasure chest filled with cool prizes to reward things like excellent homework or helping out a fellow classmate. They look forward to their turn to pick a new prize out of the box.

You have made us all smile and now you are a part of our community ❤️”

  • Algebra for All

    Funded Dec 8, 2019

I am so overjoyed with the news that my project has been funded. My students will benefit so much from these resources. The ability to print will allow students to receive the on the fly adjustments many of them so desperately need. I am planning to teach a wonderful lesson for January.”

  • Tools for Success

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

When asked to write an impact letter of how these materials will affect your classroom it is such an overwhelming task. My students and I will use the resources to like a community that has the necessities to learn. The current class rule when it comes to missing material is to give students whatever I can afford, usually golf pencils with no eraser or something of the sort.

Not any more. Students first noticed the boxes of supplies but assumed it had nothing to do with them, as most things around here go. As I invited a few students to come open the boxes, suspenseful silence filled the air. "Miss. Who's that stuff for?", they asked. Imagine the looks on their faces when they saw brand new markers, folders, paper clips, graph paper, and A WORKING STAPLER.”

  • Without a Pencil, Without an Idea

    Funded Dec 18, 2016

I don't know how to express the level of gratitude I have for you. My students mean the world to me and giving them access to resources is a daily goal for me. Since we have received the requested materials, students have been able to use a writing instrument every day. They can also erase and sharpen their own pencils!

When the delivery came to my room, students did not even flinch because they just assumed that it wasn't for them. When I began to open the boxes and setup the sharpener they finally realized it was for THEM.

Thank you!! We are using the material everyday and we appreciate it.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Butler

  • New Year, New Beginnings!

    Funded Dec 17, 2015

I can't express how grateful i am to have resources for my scholars. Before receiving these materials scholars would have to trade something important for a supplies to ensure to return back. As you may know our school is identified as high poverty as a result many students come without school supplies. Also our school lacks the budget to purchase daily supplies so the pencil and graph paper was a big help.

Our school community includes a large majority of English language learners and many of them never experienced art classes. They we're engaged in the color pencils and graph paper to create designs using patterns.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Butler

  • Tools for Learning

    Funded Aug 26, 2014

Thank you for your thoughtful donation! The writing instruments have been such a valuable resource. We are a Multicultural Magnet School in a very impoverished neighborhood. These resources have allowed my students to express their thoughts during the process of learning.

One of my students expressed, "It is helpful because my parents don't have so much money for supplies."

The biggest impact on student learning is that the students could make their mistakes on the dry erase boards and clear it quickly, then move on to recording the work in their notebooks in pencil.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Butler

I teach in a pre-kindergarten to eighth grade school in the South Bronx. Most of my students are below level, some more than two years. Many of them are overage, again some more than two years. Remarkably, at this same school I have instructed an accelerated Regents program.
