My goal is to introduce my students to 21st learning. The last two years have been hard on teachers, parents, but especially our students. I feel as if my students were more prepared for the digital world because I have always loved implementing technology in my classroom. We were fortunate enough to be a one-to-one school and my students had mastered Google Classroom as 2nd graders before the pandemic hit. This helped my students a great deal. I would now like to expand on what my students have already learned while introducing them to robots and coding in our classroom. I would like to purchase a set of Blue-bots for our classroom and then create mats with cards/pictures that will help with teaching state standards. The students know how to use the Bee-Bot and the Blue-Bot is similar, but with more advanced coding. The Blue-Bot can be programmed with the iPad in which the Bee-bot cannot. The customized mats will be used to create phonics, math, map skills and coding activities. I am excited to have the students work cooperatively in small groups to attain the goal of the lesson. My target population is that of each student in my building. We serve K-2 at this time. Though this particular project will be geared towards 2nd grade. The first and kindergarten students can also benefit from the robots. My goal is for the entire student body to have access to these items. Teachers borrow and share ideas and materials daily and I want to give my fellow teachers the opportunity to use these items also. We are better together than alone.
