Most of my students have not learned to love reading while sitting on the knees of parents and grandparents. Many come from homes where English is not the native language and books and print materials are scarce in their homes. They don't naturally love to read. Most of them are reluctant readers with inadequate literacy skills to achieve success in school, and ultimately, life in general.
